IU East's Faundez nets RSC Men's Tennis Player of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Indiana University East freshman Franciso Faundez had a big performance at the conference championship to earn River States Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for April 19-25.
Faundez, from Santiago, Chile, clinched an RSC championship finals berth for the Red Wolves thanks to his pair of wins in the semifinals versus IU Southeast. He was a part of a doubles win that clinched the doubles point for IU East. He was then won at No. 2 singles to clinch the match for the Red Wolves.
It was the first finals appearance in team history. Faundez also earned a victory at No. 2 singles over Midway in the regular season finale to wrap up a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Asbury won in the finals, 4-3.
