Rio Grande's Booth races to RSC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year, Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- University of Rio Grande junior Cody Booth won the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters at the RSC Outdoor Championships to earn RSC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year and thus also RSC Men's Track Athlete of the Week for April 19-25.
The New Philadelphia, Ohio, native swept the distance events to power the RedStorm to the overall team title in first place. He won the 10,000 meters on the opening day of the meet with a time of 34:12 to cover the 6.2 miles.
On the second day, he won the 5,000 meters with an RSC meet-record time of 15:17.31. That surpassed the nine-year old record from 2012 by more than nine seconds. Booth is an NAIA national qualifier for both events and will compete at the NAIA national championship.
