Rio Grande's Campolo picks up RSC Softball Pitcher of the Week for third time
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- University of Rio Grande freshman Sydney Campolo went 4-0 with a save in five appearances to pick up River States Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week April 19-25. It's her third conference, weekly honor of the year.
The native of New Lexington, Ohio, pitched in five games covering 25.0 innings on the week with 35 strikeouts, four walks and a 1.12 ERA. Rio Grande won all five of those contests and was 7-1 on the week as a team.
Campolo capped off the week with a 1-0 victory over IU Southeast as the teams split a pair of 1-0 results. Campolo struck out 12, walked none and allowed just five singles in her complete-game win. She also struck out 12 in an earlier win over Ohio Christian to first establish the career high.
She won both ends of a doubleheader with Point Park (Pa.) pitching nine innings and striking out eight on the day. Campolo also got a three-inning save in an earlier win over Thomas More (Ky.).
