IU East's Caballero named RSC Women's Tennis Player of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Indiana University East freshman Eva Caballero won the clinching point for the conference championship to earn River States Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for April 19-25.
The Barcelona, Spain, native wrapped up the first RSC title in team history for the Red Wolves by earning the championship point in a 4-1 win over Asbury (Ky.). She lifted the top-seeded Red Wolves with a 7-6 (5), 6-3 win at No. 3 singles and a 6-1 win in No. 2 doubles.
Caballero started the tournament with wins over IU Southeast at the same positions in the lineup, a 4-2 victory for the team. A 7-0 team win over Midway to end the regular season gave IU East the No. 1 seed as Caballero had two more wins. She has been a part of eight straight doubles wins and has won six of her last seven singles matches.
