Fulkeron-Bird snags RSC Volleyball Defender of the Week for IU East
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Indian University East junior Sammei Fulkerson-Bird led the back row for the Red Wolves on her way to River States Conference Volleyball Defender of the Week for Aug. 23-29.
Fulkerson-Bird, a defensive specialist, tallied 76 digs in four matches on the week. That came in 15 sets for an average of 5.07 digs per set. That led IU East to a 2-2 showing at the Marian Knight Invitational.
She totaled five service aces and six assists as well. A big match of 29 digs came in a 3-1 loss to No. 13-ranked Marian, a season-high so far.
