Midway (Ky.) goes wire to wire for RSC Men's Golf Fall Preview title
FINAL RESULTS
FLORENCE, Ind. -- Midway (Ky.) University made it a wire-to-wire win at the River States Conference Men's Golf Fall Preview with the Eagles coming away with another strong showing during the final round on Tuesday from Belterra Golf Club. Midway knocked another six shots of its total from Monday and won the tournament with a final-round score of 284.
Midway claimed the top three individual spots as well with Logan Conn (68-71) taking medalist honors with a two-day total of 3-under par 139. He was followed up by teammates Hayes Mason (74-70) and Camron Turner (73-71) in a tie for second place 2-over 144. Mason was the only player under par in the final round.
Indiana University East shot a strong score of 287 on Tuesday to move up to second place in the final standings. The Red Wolves opened up with a 322 for fifth place after the first 18 holes. IU East had Jake Miller (74-72) finish in fourth place individually with a final-round 72. Teammate Kyle Cochran moved into a tie for 10th place thanks to a final-round 68, which matched the best round the tournament.
Midway had five players in the Top 10, which included team member Elliott Smith (75-73) in a tie for sixth and individual player Chase Taylor (78-72) in a tie for eighth.
Indiana University Kokomo placed third with consistent rounds of 309 and 308. Nate Slack (75-73) led the Cougars tying for sixth. Brescia (Ky.) University rounded out the top five with rounds of 313 and 311. Grant Puckett (76-74) was the low man for the Bearcats tying for eighth.
The scores from this week's event will contribute to the all-conference awards to be named after the RSC Championship, which will be played over 54 holes at the same course in the spring.
