Rio Grande's McCarthy named RSC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- University of Rio Grande (Ohio) sophomore Mackenzie McCarthy won the RedStorm's home meet to claim River States Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week Sept. 20-26.

McCarthy, from New Franklin, Ohio, placed first at the Patty Forgey Invitational with a time of 18 minutes, 53 seconds. She outdistanced the field of 25 runners and won the 5,000-meter race by 27 seconds.

Next up for the RedStorm is the Royals XC Challenge in Charlotte, N.C., on Oct. 8.
