Midway's Kocis picks up RSC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Midway (Ky.) University freshman Jacob Kocis picked up River States Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week Sept. 6. The award was for all events prior to Sept. 5 as the first honor of the year.
Kocis, from Island Port, Vt., won the Eagle Opener to start the year Aug. 27. He had a time of 16:55 in the 5,000-meter race to win by 15 seconds over the rest of the field. Kocis improved upon that performance with a school-record 5K of 16:29 to lead the Eagles at the Berea/Centre Cross Country Jamboree.
Midway will be competing in the Hanover Invitational Sept. 11.
