Point Park's Stephens-Stewart named RSC Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Point Park (Pa.) University sophomore Daimere Stephens-Stewart qualified for nationals in the long jump to claim the first River States Conference Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week award of the year. The award was named Jan. 17 and is for all events so far this indoor season.
Stephens-Stewart, from Pittsburgh, Pa., made his first NAIA qualification with a mark of 7.02 meters in the long jump. That came Dec. 3 at YSU and is currently ranked No. 1 in the RSC. He also ranks second in the conference in the triple jump with a season-best of 13.65 meters coming this past weekend Jan. 14 at Marietta. He is second only to teammate Collins Eze in the latter event.
The Pioneers will be in action at the YSU College Invitational Jan. 21.
