Dowell earns RSC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Jalaya Dowell from Oakland City (Ind.) University earned River States Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors presented by Brown & Brown Insurance for the week of Dec. 5-11.
A junior center, Dowell averaged 20 points and 8.5 rebounds per game to lead the Mighty Oaks to a 2-0 record in RSC play. Dowell shot 61 percent from the field (17 for 28) and made all six of her free throw attempts. She also averaged 2.5 blocks and 2.0 steals per game.
Dowell started off with 18 points, nine rebounds and three steals in a win over IU Kokomo. The next performance was 22 points, eight rebounds and four blocks to defeat St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.).
