Point Park's Burns snags RSC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Point Park (Pa.) University guard Michelle Burns had a flurry of scoring to pick up River States Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week Jan. 24-30.
The senior from Greensburg, Pa. averaged 21.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.0 steals per game. It was a 2-1 week for the Pioneers, who were on the road for all three games. Burns shot 44 percent from the field (24 for 55) and 50 percent from long range (13 for 26) on the week.
Burns had 22 points, eight rebounds, four assists and a 5-for-10 showing from the outside in a win at Brescia (Ky.). She then had 26 points, seven assists and four treys in a victory at IU Southeast. Despite 16 points and 4 of 6 from the outside, the Pioneers lost at Midway (Ky.).
Point Park is 13-7, 6-5 RSC and will host Ohio Christian on Feb. 5.
