Brown vaults to RSC Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for Midway (Ky.)
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Midway (Ky.) University sophomore Nevaeh Brown qualified for NAIA nationals in the pole vault to gain River States Conference Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for Feb. 7-13.
Brown, from Louisville, Ky., won the pole vault at the Mount Saint Joseph Invitational. She cleared 3.52 meters, which is the NAIA A standard for qualification. Brown scaled the NAIA B standard of 3.42 meters in her second attempt of the day. She kept going, and although she initially failed at 3.52, she cleared that height on the next try for the A standard.
That converts to a conference-leading 11 feet, 6.5 inches heading into the RSC Indoor Track & Field Championship Feb. 19 in Logan, Ohio.
