Skeens stays hot for RSC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for No. 22 Rio Grande (Ohio)
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- University of Rio Grande (Ohio) junior Ella Skeens continued her hot streak to earn another River States Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, this time for Feb. 14-20. It is the second time in three weeks she has won the award.
Skeens, from Chillicothe, Ohio, averaged 29.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists in the final two regular season games for the RedStorm. Rio Grande went 2-0 to take a 28-2 record into the playoffs. Skeens shot 54 percent from the field and 44 percent (4 for 9) from long range.
Skeens had 28 points, 12 rebounds and five assists in a win over Ohio Christian. That game featured three treys. Then there was another 30 points, seven rebounds and three assists in a win over Oakland City (Ind.).
Rio Grande will be hosting IU Southeast in the RSC Championship quarterfinals Feb. 23.
