Hastings earns RSC Softball Pitcher of the Week for (RV) Rio Grande (Ohio)
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- (RV) University of Rio Grande (Ohio) senior Raelynn Hastings threw three complete games at the NFCA Leadoff Classic to earn River States Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week Feb. 21-27.
Pitching against many ranked teams at the tournament in Columbus, Ga., Hastings led the RedStorm through a 3-2 weekend overall. The Commercial Point, Ohio, native won two games and logged 20.0 innings in all. She struck out 11, walked four and allowed seven earned runs during on the weekend.
She beat No. 16 William Carey (Miss.) with a complete game, 3-2. Hastings allowed just one earned run on nine hits, struck out two and walked one. Hastings also got the win versus Ave Maria (Fla.). In a complete game, she spread out three runs, struck out six and walked one. She was saddled with the loss to (RV) Mobile (Ala.) despite giving up three earned runs in 6.0 innings of another complete game.
Rio Grande is 6-4, and its next games are March 4 at Alice Lloyd (Ky.).
