Point Park (Pa.) sweeps 2022 RSC M+W Outdoor Track & Field Championships titles
FINAL RESULTS
RIO GRANDE, Ohio -- Point Park (Pa.) University made it a sweep for the outdoor season and the entire year in track & field. Point Park won both the men's and women's team titles on Saturday, April 30 at the 2022 River States Conference Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships held over two days at University of Rio Grande (Ohio).
The outdoor victories go along with Point Park's men's and women's indoor conference titles earlier this year. It is the first time that Point Park won all four titles in the same year. For the Point Park women, they made it back to back outdoor championships in 2021 and 2022 and their third outdoor title overall (2018). The Point Park men won their second outdoor title (2019), and they finished runner-up last year.
WOMEN'S RECAP
The Point Park women won wire to wire establishing a lead after Day 1 of the meet on Friday. The Pioneers led by 27 points after Friday's events, and they nearly doubled their lead in the final team standings. The Point Park women finished with 194 points with runner-up St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) coming in with 144 points.
Sophie Jebose led Point Park to the women's title as RSC Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year. She won the same honor in the indoor season as well. She competed in six events -- all in the field -- and scored in five of them. Jebose totaled 31 points with a victory in the triple jump along with second in the pole vault, third in the long jump, fourth in the hammer throw and seventh in the javelin.
Point Park first-year head coach Tim Creamer was voted RSC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year. He got the same honor in the indoor season with the Pioneers' victory there as well.
Molly Wagner, a freshman sprinter from Carlow (Pa.), claimed RSC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year and RSC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Newcomer of the Year. She was also newcomer of the year in indoor. Wagner led the Celtics to 30 points placing first in the 100 meters, second in the 200 and 400 meters and running on the fifth-place 4x400 relay.
There were three women's championship meet records set with Nevaeh Brown from Midway (Ky.) clearing 3.81 meters in the pole vault (previous record 3.50m), Emma Pavelek from Point Park clearing 1.67 meters in the high jump (previous record 1.65m) and Alexia Schofield running 24.91 seconds in the 200 meter prelims (previous record 25.25 seconds).

With a double-digit cushion with a few events remaining, Point Park finished strong to ensure the win by 24 points over Rio Grande. Point Park ended up with 216.25 points with Rio Grande at 192.25.
Point Park won seven events on Saturday to go along with the two event wins on Friday to storm ahead. The Pioneers also had five second-place finishes throughout the meet to rack up the points. Tim Creamer, in his first year, was voted RSC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year to combine with his same award for indoor.
