IU Southeast wins the RSC Baseball Championship and earns the conference's automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round.
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio -- It's time for the 2022 River States Conference Baseball Championship! The six-team, double-elimination tournament will take place Thursday-Sunday, May 5-8 at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, Ohio. It will be the fifth time in a row the RSC Baseball Championship comes to the stadium.
VA Memorial Stadium is located at 17273 State Route 104, Chillicothe, Ohio, 45601. Ballpark information can be found at ChllicothePaints.com.
The team champion this weekend will receive the RSC's only automatic bid to the NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round, which will be held May 16-19 at host sites around the country. The top six teams of the nine teams in the RSC standings qualified.
No. 1 overall seed Indiana University Southeast won the RSC Regular Season Championship to claim the top spot in the bracket. The Grenadiers (35-13, 20-4 RSC), ranked No. 18 in the NAIA Top 25 Poll, play the first game of the championship on Thursday, May 5 at 11:00 a.m. versus No. 6 seed University of Rio Grande (Ohio) (23-30, 10-12 RSC).
No. 2 seed Point Park (Pa.) University (34-12, 18-6 RSC) squares off versus No. 5 seed Oakland City (Ind.) University (28-19, 11-11 RSC) in the second game of the opening day at 3:00 p.m. Oakland City is a first-time qualifier in its second year in the league.
No. 3 seed Indiana University Kokomo (26-19, 16-7 RSC) faces No. 4 seed Midway (Ky.) University (17-29, 13-10) on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. to complete the first day of action.
The championship continues with three games each on Friday and Saturday following the same schedule of 11:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The championship round is scheduled to begin on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. with another championship game if necessary at 3:00 p.m.
The RSC Game Central presented by Stretch Internet will broadcast live streaming video of all games of the championship. Subscribe for $7.95 per game or $19.99 for the entire tournament. Live stats will be provided on PrestoStats.
Admission at VA Memorial Stadium is $7.00 for adults, $3.00 for students with that price gaining entrance for an entire day. No tournament passes will be sold. Concessions will be available. No outside food, drink or coolers are allowed in the stadium.
