Gainer named RSC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Matthew Gainer from WVU Tech was named River States Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week presented by Brown & Brown Insurance for Feb. 20-26.
Gainer, a senior left-hander from Elkins, W.Va., pitched 7.0 innings in the Golden Bears' 2-1 win over Lawrence Tech (Mich.) over the weekend. He did not give up an earned run in his outing, which was a no decision.
He struck out six, walked one and allowed just one run on five hits over his 7.0 innings. WVU Tech eventually won the game, 2-1, in 10 innings with Gainer providing the start.
