FLORENCE, Ind. -- Midway (Ky.) University is in the lead after 18 holes at the 2023 River States Conference Men's Golf Championship. The 54-hole event is being held once again at the Belterra Golf Course in Florence, Ind.

The Eagles shot a team score of 308 in Sunday's first round to lead the field of 11 schools by five shots. Indiana University East shot 313 for second place followed by Indiana University Kokomo in third with a 320. Five teams are within 15 shots of the lead with 36 holes still to play.

The second round and third rounds begin Monday and Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. ET with pairings and tee times based on earlier scores throughout the championship. 

Hayes Mason from Midway and Jake Miller from IU East both shot 74 on Sunday to grab the individual lead after 18 holes. That is 3-over par on the par 71, 6,742-yard layout. Austin Shelley from IU East and Aaron Munger from Brescia (Ky.) both shot 75 for one shot off the lead.
