Back to Back: Oakland City (Ind.) repeats as RSC Men's Tennis Championship winners
EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- No. 25-ranked Oakland City (Ind.) University made it back-to-back titles with its victory at the 2023 River States Conference Men's Tennis Championship held Friday-Saturday at the Wesselman Tennis Center.
The Mighty Oaks backed up their RSC regular-season title with the postseason championship. That makes two in a row and two out of three years since joining the RSC.
Oakland City started out with a bye into the semifinals on Friday afternoon. The No. 1 seed Mighy Oaks defeated No. 5 Brescia (Ky.), 4-0, to advance to the finals. Brescia had started the championship with a 4-3 win over No. 4 IU Kokomo.
The other semifinal had No. 2 Midway (Ky.) take a 4-0 victory over IU East. In the finals, Oakland City stayed hot with a 4-0 win over the Eagles. For Midway, it was their first trip to the finals in a strong postseason run.
