RSC Women's Golf Fall Preview: Round 1 Recap
RD 1 LEADERBOARD FINAL RD PAIRINGS
DANIELS, W.Va. -- The River States Conference Women's Golf Fall Preview began Monday, Sept. 25 from The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, W.Va. After the first 18 holes, Midway (Ky.) University is in first place with a team score of 329. That gives the Eagles a 12-shot lead over the field of eight schools in the team standings.
The final round of 18 holes will be held Tuesday with the first tee times going off No. 1 and No. 10 at 9:00 a.m. Midway will be in the final groupings starting on No. 1 at 9:50 a.m. joined by Indiana University East and St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) College, who shot 341 and 342, respectively in the first round.
Oakland City (Ind.) University (355), University of Rio Grande (Ohio) (360) and Indiana University Kokomo (369) were next in the team standings followed by Shawnee State (Ohio) University (379) and Brescia (Ky.) University (409).
Midway had three of the top four players in ties in Monday's first round. Payton Schechter and Anna New both shot 78 (+6) as the individual tournament leaders with New competing as an individual for Midway. Bree Russell shot 80 to contribute to the Eagles' team score as did Erika Martin of Shawnee State.
IU East's second-place showing through 18 holes had Brooklyn Cromwell (82) and Liv Sanders (83) leading the way individually and in the Top 10. Ranae Jaeger paced St. Mary-of-the-Woods in a tie for fifth place with an 81.
Rio Grande has two players in the Top 10 through 18 holes with Maddi Meadows (81) and Cristina Hidalgo (83). Tanisha Downer of Oakland City also shot 83.
