River States Players of the Week - Oct. 7-13

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - The River States Conference is pleased to announce the Player of the Week honorees for the past week.

All awards represent contests played from Monday, October 7 through Sunday, October 13.

Men's Soccer Players of the Week

Defensive Player of the Week
Connor Vincent, Midway | So. - Goalkeeper - Franklin, Kentucky
Vincent played a major role in getting Midway a pair of results in the past seven days. The sophomore goalkeeper led the Eagles to a 1-0 win over NCAA Division II Trevecca Nazarene on Wednesday, making eleven saves in the process. He added another five saves in a 1-1 draw with Brescia in conference action.

Offensive Player of the Week
Joe McInnes, Rio Grande | Sr. - Forward - Airdrie, Scotland
McInnes scored the biggest goal of the week for the RedStorm, providing the winning goal for Rio Grande in a 1-0 win over WVU Tech in the RSC Match of the Week. It was the fourth straight game with a goal for the Scot, who is the leading scorer for the first place RedStorm.

Women's Soccer Players of the Week

Defensive Player of the Week
Kailee Moore, IU Kokomo | Jr. - Goalkeeper - Noblesville, Indiana
Nothing got past Kailee Moore this week, as the junior goalkeeper earned her fourth and fifth shutouts of the 2024 season. She turned away six shots in a 3-0 victory over Midway on Thursday, then stopped eleven shots on goal in a 3-0 win over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods on Saturday, getting the Cougars to 2-1-1 in RSC play.

Offensive Player of the Week
Mackenzie Gibbons, IU Kokomo | Sr. - Midfielder - Dardenne Prairie, Missouri
Gibbons scored four of IU Kokomo's six goals on the week, helping the Cougars to a pair of conference wins. She scored a pair in each of the Cougars shut-out victories. She was as dominant as can be, registering four shots on goal Thursday against Midway and five Saturday against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, converting twice in each match.

Women's Volleyball Players of the Week

Attacker of the Week
Mya Grigsby, IU Kokomo | Fr. - Outside Hitter - Greenfield, Indiana
The Cougars remained undefeated in RSC play, and moved their current winning streak to 14 games. Grigsby led the way on the attack, posting a .402 hitting percentage and 49 kills over ten sets played. She also contributed on defense for the 21-4 Cougars, logging 30 total digs and averaging three per set.

Setter of the Week
Elle McLoughlin, Rio Grande | Jr. - Setter - Zanesville, Ohio
The multi-time Setter of the Week was at it again, leading the RedStorm to a 3-0 week. The junior racked up 140 assists over three matches, averaging almost 13 assists per set. She was at her best in a five-set win over IU Southeast, logging a season-high 56 assists. On the week, she also added 26 digs and seven kills.

Defender of the Week
Kayla Sedgwick, Rio Grande | Jr. - Libero - Richwood, Ohio
Winning the Defender of the Week award for the first time this season, Sedgwick played a key role on the backline in three Rio Grande victories. The junior recorded 59 digs across three matches, including a season-high 26 in a five-set victory over IU Southeast. She also added 12 assists and three service aces on the week.

Golf Players of the Week

Male Player of the Week
Santiago Zambrano, WVU Tech | Sr. - Bogota, Colombia
Zambrano was WVU Tech's top player at the Music City Collegiate, hosted by Cumberland University in Dickson, Tennessee. The senior shot a one-under par 71 in the first round, before ending the tournament with scores of 77 and 74. He finished in the top third of a competitive field.

Female Player of the Week
Liv Sanders, IU East | Sr. - Bedford, Indiana
Sanders was the individual medalist at the Crimson Classic in Kokomo, and did so in dramatic fashion. After erasing a four-shot deficit in the final round, the Indiana native drilled a 54-foot putt on the first playoff hole to claim victory. Sanders' efforts also helped the Red Wolves win the team title at Wildcat Creek by three strokes.
