Midway, SMWC Draw in Match of the Week

SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. -- The Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College women's soccer team got off to a hot start scoring twice in the first seven minutes but battled to a 2-2 draw against visiting Midway (Ky.) on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 19) at the SMWC Soccer Complex

SMWC moves to 2-8-3, 1-3-1 RSC while Midway moved to 5-8-2, 1-4-2 RSC on the season. With it being the final weekend home game of the regular season, the Pomeroys celebrated Senior Day during the contest.

It was Lois Carr who got the Pomeroys on the scoreboard early with a goal in the 4th minute for the quick 1-0 advantage. Kennedy Trigg found the back of the net for her team leading eighth time this season off the assist from Carr in the game's seventh minute and SMWC found itself ahead 2-0.

Midway would answer with goals in the 47th and 57th minutes to level the contest at 2 each. Neither team would score the rest of the way and the game ended in the third draw of the season for the Pomeroys.

Dree Wilson was in goal for SMWC and earned eight saves in the contest.

SMWC was credited with 10 shots in the match, including eight shots on goal. Raelee Everhart and Trigg led the way with four shots each as each also posted three shots in goal in the game.
