MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - The River States Conference is pleased to announce the Player of the Week honorees for the past week.
All awards represent contests played from Monday, October 14 through Sunday, October 20.
Men's Soccer Players of the Week
Defensive Player of the Week
Luka Felix, WVU Tech | Jr. - Goalkeeper - Portugal
Luka Felix was excellent between the pipes in WVU Tech's conference victory over Shawnee State on Thursday. The Portuguese goalkeeper led a stalwart defensive effort for the Golden Bears, making two saves in a shutout victory. The win kept WVU Tech in third place in the River States Conference with two weeks to play.
Offensive Player of the Week
Pablo Herrero, Oakland City | Sr. - Forward - Murcia, Spain
Herrero was involved in three of Oakland City's seven goals on the week, keeping the Mighty Oaks unbeaten in conference play and moving the team's undefeated streak to seven matches. Herrero scored twice in a 4-1 victory over Brescia on Thursday, then assisted on a goal as the Mighty Oaks picked up a 3-0 win over IU Columbus on Saturday.

Defensive Player of the Week
Dree Wilson, St. Mary-of-the-Woods | Fr. - Goalkeeper - Clinton, Indiana
Wilson played a key role in getting the Pomeroys four points this week. The freshman turned away all four shots she saw in a shutout win over IU Columbus on Thursday, the first of her career. She then came up big to get the Pomeroys a point against Midway, making eight critical saves in a 2-2 draw with the Eagles.
Offensive Player of the Week
Annie Coriell, Shawnee State | So. - Midfielder - Wheelersburg, Ohio
Sophomore captain Annie Coriell's efforts offensively proved to be absolutely critical in Shawnee State's first two victories of the 2024 season -- with Coriell scoring the first goal in the 36th minute in SSU's 2-1 victory over West Virginia Tech, then nabbing a massive 85th minute game-winning penalty kick goal in another 2-1 road win, a comeback win over Brescia (Ky.).

Attacker of the Week
Amanda Rarick, Rio Grande | Sr. - Outside Hitter - Canal Winchester, Ohio
Rarick continued to be the top hitter for the RedStorm, who moved to 9-1 in conference play with a pair of victories. She set a season-high with 22 kills in a four-set win over WVU Tech on Friday night, then added another eleven kills as Rio Grande swept past Alice Lloyd on Saturday.
Setter of the Week
Elle McLoughlin, Rio Grande | Jr. - Setter - Zanesville, Ohio
It was another productive week for the Rio Grande setter, as McLaughlin averaged more than ten assists per set with 73 assists in seven sets - four against WVU Tech and three against Alice Lloyd. The star setter had a double-double with 14 digs in the win over WVU Tech, and added six blocks on the week.
Defender of the Week
Haley Jaster, IU Southeast | Sr. - Middle Blocker - Midland, Michigan
The conference's leader in blocks per set continued to dominate at the net, recording 10 total blocks in three matches this week. The senior middle blocker started her week with four blocks against Georgetown, then added another four blocks in three sets against IU Kokomo before finishing the week with two blocks against St. Mary-of-the-Woods.

Male Player of the Week
Robert Peiró Llobell, WVU Tech | Fr. - Gandia, Valencia, Spain
Peiró Llobell was WVU Tech's top golfer at the St. Andrews Fall Classic, leading the Golden Bears to a third place finish in a field with top 25 teams like No. 18 Northwestern Ohio, (RV) SCAD Atlanta, (RV) Truett McConnell. The Spanish freshman finished fifth overall in the field, shooting a three-over score of 219 that included a two-under 70 in the second round.
Cross Country Runners of the Week
Male Runner of the Week
Thomas Chapman, SMWC | Sr. - Brazil, Indiana
Thomas Chapman finished 15th in the men's 8k race at the Angel Mounds Invitational with a school record time of 24:53 in the event and placing first among all River States Conference runners. It marked the third consecutive event in which Chapman has set and reset the school record in the 8k.
Female Runner of the Week
Abby Cunningham, Midway | Sr. - Morris, Illinois
Cunningham was the individual winner at the Asbury Invitational, running the 5k course at Asbury in 20:39.50. In a field of nearly 50 runners, Cunningham finished more than 30 seconds ahead of the closest runner, helping the Eagles to a team runner-up finish.
Won the 47-runner race by more than 30 seconds.
