CENTERVILLE, Ind. - A pair of goals in the second half gave the Indiana University East men's soccer team a 2-1 come-from-behind River States Conference victory over St. Mary-of-the-Woods College at Centerville High School on Thursday, Oct. 24.
With the match tied at 1-1, Hoi Lian was able to get the ball past Pomeroy goalie Henry Jackson for the game-winner as the teams battled in front of the net with 84:26 on the clock. Levi Griffis credited with an assist on the play.
IU East is now 7-6 overall and 2-3 in the RSC, while St. Mary-of-the-Woods is 4-10 and 1-4.
In the opening period, the Pomeroys scored at 16:03 and they were able to hang on the lead into the second half as both teams had goals taken away due to offside calls.
Tristan Thomas tied the contest for IU East at 74:09 off a corner kick by Zion Griffis to set the stage for the decisive goal by Lian.
Peter Lamprou had seven saves in goal for the Red Wolves including one in the final minute.
