River States Players of the Week - Dec. 16-22

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - The River States Conference is pleased to announce the Player of the Week honorees for the past week.

All awards represent contests played from Monday, December 16 through Sunday, December 22.

Men's Basketball Players of the Week

Defensive Player of the Week
Thomas Hailey, WVU Tech | Jr. - Guard - Monroe, North Carolina
Thomas Hailey played a key role in WVU Tech's victories this past week over Kentucky Christian and Pikeville. Hailey averaged seven rebounds per contest, with six of those per game coming on the defensive glass. He also blocked a shot and logged five steals, and keyed a Golden Bear defense that gave up just 62 points per game.

Offensive Player of the Week
Braden Chapman, WVU Tech | So. - Guard - Beaver, West Virginia
Braden Chapman was a scoring machine in two games this week, both wins for WVU Tech. The sophomore guard averaged 25 points per game in wins over Kentucky Christian and Pikeville, shooting 59.3 percent from the field and 82.4 percent from the foul line. The West Virginia native didn't just score, as Chapman dished out 12 overall assists and pulled down 14 rebounds. 

Women's Basketball Players of the Week

Defensive Player of the Week
Jasmine Jordan, Rio Grande | Fr. - Forward - Ashland, Kentucky
Jasmine Jordan averaged 10.5 defensive rebounds, 2.0 steals and 2.0 blocks per game for Rio Grande in wins over Morningside (Iowa), who is receiving votes in the most recent edition of the NAIA Coaches' Poll, and Spring Arbor (Mich.) at the Puerto Rico Clasico. 

Offensive Player of the Week
Jasmine Jordan, Rio Grande | Fr. - Forward - Ashland, Kentucky
Jasmine Jordan averaged 21 points and 12.5 rebounds per game in wins over RV Morningside (Iowa) and Spring Arbor (Mich.) in the Puerto Rico Clasico. In Puerto Rico, the freshman shot 53.6 percent overall, hit both of her three-point attempts, and was 10-for-13 at the free throw line.
