River States Players of the Week - August 26-Sept. 1

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - The River States Conference is pleased to announce the Player of the Week honorees for the past week.

All awards represent contests played from Monday, August 26 through Sunday, September 1.

Men's Soccer Players of the Week

Defensive Player of the Week
Connor Vincent, Midway | So. - Goalkeeper - Franklin, Kentucky
Vincent shut down an NCAA opponent on Friday, making ten saves in a 3-0 shutout win over Berea. The sophomore also added another three saves in Midway's season opener on Tuesday against Pikeville.

Offensive Player of the Week
Evan Reape, Oakland City | Sr. - Forward - Ballina, Ireland
The Irish forward came up big for Oakland City on Wednesday, scoring in the 78th minute to make the difference in Oakland City's 2-1 victory over Campbellsville. Reape's game-winner with under 15 minutes to play moved the Mighty Oaks to 2-0 on the season.

Women's Soccer Players of the Week

Defensive Player of the Week
Kailee Moore, IU Kokomo | Jr. - Goalkeeper - Noblesville, Indiana
Junior goalkeeper Kailee Moore delivered a pair of shutouts for the Cougars in goal, leading them to a pair of wins to extend their win streak to three. First, she pitched a shutout on the road at IU Northwest in a 1-0 win, before coming home and blanking Saint Xavier as the Cougs won 1-0 to improve to 3-2 on the year. She made 17 saves on the week for an average of 8.5 per match.

Offensive Player of the Week
Haylee Applegate, Midway | Jr. - Forward - Flemingsburg, Kentucky
Applegate had a busy first week of the season, scoring three goals and assisting on another in Midway's first three games of the season. The Kentucky native scored Midway's lone goal against Union Commonwealth, then added two goals and an assist in a 6-0 victory over Defiance on Saturday.

Volleyball Players of the Week

Attacker of the Week
Mya Grigsby, IU Kokomo | Fr. - Outside Hitter - Greenfield, Indiana
Mya Grigsby delivered an absolute complete performance where she recorded 61 kills (4.1 per set), a .265 hitting %, and 49 digs (3.26 per set), all while passing a 2.1 for the weekend. This was against high level competition, including #2 Northwestern and #23 Providence. IUK went 2-2 on the weekend, losing to #2 Northwestern in five sets while beating #23 Providence and sweeping Peru State.

Setter of the Week
Elle McLoughlin, Rio Grande | Fr. - Setter - Zanesville, Ohio
Going back-to-back as RSC Setter of the Week, McLaughlin helped Rio Grande claim the championship of its own Emileigh Cooper Memorial Classic. The RedStorm went 4-0, defeating Defiance, Cumberland (Tenn.), Kentucky Christian and Ohio Christian, as McLaughlin averaged more than ten assists per set in each of Rio Grande's four victories.

Defender of the Week
Campbell McBride, Brescia | Jr. - Libero - Newburgh, Indiana
The transfer libero played phenomenally this past week as she had 92 digs, 89 coming from the BU Classic, and 118 receptions. She had a career and match high of 32 digs in the match against Bethel (TN) which ranked her in the top 15 of digs in a single match in program history (since digital stats started in 2003).

Cross Country Runners of the Week

Male Runner of the Week
Tyler Jenkins, Rio Grande | Jr. - Barnesville, Ohio
In a field with a pair of NCAA Division I teams, Jenkins was the runaway winner at the Thundering Herd Invitational, winning the individual title by almost 15 seconds with a time of 15:11.0. Jenkins led the RedStorm to the team title by 16 points over host Marshall.

Female Runner of the Week
Amarissa Kerns, Rio Grande | Jr. - Lancaster, Ohio
Kerns was the top non-NCAA Division I runner in the Thundering Herd Invitational, held by Marshall University. The junior finished seventh overall in Huntington, running the 5k course in 19:03.7
