MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - The River States Conference is pleased to announce the Player of the Week honorees for the past week.
All awards represent contests played from Monday, September 16 through Sunday, September 22.
Men's Soccer Players of the Week
Defensive Player of the Week
Guillermo Basilis, Brescia | Sr. - Goalkeeper - Dominican Republic
Basilis earned the win in goal for Brescia, who picked up their first win of the 2024 season with a 2-1 victory over UHSP in St. Louis. The Dominican goalkeeper turned away three shots, and kept the Eutectics off the scoreboard until the waning minutes of the match, allowing Brescia to build a two-goal lead.
Offensive Player of the Week
Katai Mukuka, Brescia | Fr. - Forward - Zambia, Africa
Katai Makuka scored in the 65th minute for Brescia on Saturday, scoring what proved to be the game-winner in the Bearcats' 2-1 win over UHSP from Missouri. Makuka's goal led the Bearcats to their first win of the 2024 season, and was the second goal of the season for the freshman from Zambia.

Defensive Player of the Week
Yaiza Ramos, Oakland City| So. - Goalkeeper - Barcelona, Spain
Yaiza Ramos played the first 72 minutes in goal for the Mighty Oaks in Saturday's 8-0 victory over UHSP, picking up the win. The Spanish sophomore turned away all three shots from the Eutectics, earning her second shutout of the 2024 season, both of which have come on the road.
Offensive Player of the Week
Evie Clare, Midway | Sr. - Forward - Sodus, Michigan
Evie Clare has scored seven goals in seven matches this season, adding three this past week in matches against Georgetown and Campbellsville Harrodsburg. The senior forward scored Midway's lone goal Wednesday against Georgetown, then added two in a 4-0 victory over Campbellsville Harrodsburg on Friday.

Attacker of the Week
Amanda Rarick, Rio Grande | Sr. - Outside Hitter - Canal Winchester, Ohio
Rio Grande's leading attacker was at it again, logging 49 kills in three matches last week to lead the RedStorm to a 3-0 start in River States play. The Ohio native's best match came in a Friday victory over Brescia, where she logged 17 kills in just three sets, good for a .324 attack percentage. She also added eleven digs and eight block assists on the week.
Setter of the Week
Elle McLoughlin, Rio Grande | Fr. - Setter - Zanesville, Ohio
Elle McLoughlin, who currently ranks fifth in the nation in total assists with 641, had another do-everything week for the RedStorm, moving Rio Grande to 3-0 in River States play. The freshman racked up 123 assists over three matches, adding 28 digs and six total blocks. The Ohio native had a double-double in the RSC opener against IU East, recording 46 assists and eleven digs.
Defender of the Week
Mya Grigsby, IU Kokomo | Fr. - Outside Hitter - Greenfield, Indiana
Despite not being a libero, Mya impressed by putting up libero like numbers in Tuesday's four-set win over SMWC. She had 27 digs for 6.75 digs per set before recording double-digit digs yet again in a sweep of IU East on the road. Her offensive numbers did not suffer, as the Indiana native racked up 27 kills across seven sets in IUK's 2-0 conference start.

Male Runner of the Week
Tyler Jenkins, Rio Grande | Jr. - Barnesville, Ohio
Jenkins led the RedStorm to their first All-Ohio Cross Country Championship in school history, finishing second overall and as the top attached runner. The Ohio native broke his own school record at the Cedarville, Ohio course, finishing the 8k event in 24:33.9.
Female Runner of the Week
Amarissa Kerns, Rio Grande| Jr. - Lancaster, Ohio
Amarissa Kerns was the top NAIA runner at the All-Ohio Cross Country Championship, placing eighth overall on the 6k course in Cedarville. The junior clocked in at a school record time of 22:55.3, and was one of just nine of the 314 runners in attendance to run the course in under 23 minutes.
Golf Players of the Week
Male Player of the Week
Santiago Zambrano, WVU Tech | Sr. - Bogota, Colombia
Zambrano led the Golden Bears to a team victory at the Ohio Christian Fall Invitational, winning the individual medal by four strokes. The Colombian senior had a standout performance on the second day to win the tournament, firing an eight-under 64 to rally from four strokes down to win.
Female Player of the Week
Sidnea Belville, Shawnee State | Fr. - Ironton, Ohio
In another tremendous performance, Shawnee State freshman Sidnea Belville jumped five spots on the second day of play to finish in a tie for sixth place at the Ohio Christian Fall Invitational in Circleville, Ohio after shooting a tournament-low 76 in the second and final round of competition -- all in just her second-ever collegiate golf tournament. Belville's 76 not only was the OCU Fall Invitational's tournament low round, but was her first career round under 80. In doing so, Belville matched a program record by shooting an outstanding four-over 76 to match the program standard set by that of her current coach, Holley Hart, in just her fourth-ever 18-hole collegiate round at the Pickaway Golf Course and Country Club.
