MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - The River States Conference is pleased to announce the Player of the Week honorees for the past week.
All awards represent contests played from Monday, January 6 through Sunday, January 12.
Men's Basketball Players of the Week
Defensive Player of the Week
Damian Garcia, Brescia | Jr. - Guard - Houston, Texas
Garcia did it all this week for the Bearcats, tallying 12 rebounds, 6 steals, and 6 blocks across two games against IU Kokomo and IU Southeast. He led all scorers with 33 in the win against the Grenadiers while playing the full 40 minutes, shooting 54 percent from the field.
Offensive Player of the Week
Evan Kretz, IU Kokomo | Jr. - Guard - Russiaville, Indiana
Junior Evan Kretz enjoyed a record-breaking career day Saturday in a 41-point win over IU Columbus, scoring 48 total points on the week while helping the Cougars extend their win-streak to seven. Kretz set a new program record for three-pointers made in a game Saturday, knocking down nine triples on his way to a career-high 31 points. Evan did not stop there however, finishing with double-digit rebounds for the first time of his college career, earning him his first collegiate double-double.

Defensive Player of the Week
Cianna Gloster, Shawnee State | Sr. - Forward - Flint, Michigan
Gloster was a powerhouse once again inside, averaging 15.5 rebounds, 10.5 points and four steals while going 50 percent from the field in a 36-point road win over Indiana-East and a 16-point home victory over Midway (Ky.). Gloster collected her 28th career double-double at Shawnee State with a 15-rebound, 13-point effort against the Red Wolves while adding three steals, then posted 16 rebounds, eight points and five steals against the Eagles.
Offensive Player of the Week
Jasmine Jordan, Rio Grande | Fr. - Forward - Ashland, Kentucky
The Red Storm scored 245 points in two conference games this week, with Jasmine Jordan leading the way. The freshman forward averaged 26.5 points and 13 rebounds in wins over WVU Tech and Alice Lloyd, shooting 67.9 percent from the field and making four of seven three-point attempts. Jordan scored 22 of Rio Grande's 138 points against Rio Grande, the fourth highest total in NAIA women's basketball history.
Indoor Track Athletes of the Week
Male Track Athlete of the Week
Troy Mason, Rio Grande | So. - Grenville, Grenada
Mason was one of the top sprinters in attendance at the Marshall Alumni Classic, competing against NCAA Division I and Division II programs. The Grenada native placed first in the 400 meter run and second in the 200 meter run in Huntington. Both times currently rank among the top ten in the NAIA, with his time in 200 ranking fifth and his time in the 400 ranking ninth.
Male Field Athlete of the Week
Henry Chingaipe, Brescia | So. - Malawi
Chingaipe set a new Brescia record in the triple jump at the Mount St. Joseph Invitational on Saturday, logging a leap of 12.55 meters to claim a gold medal in the event. The sophomore also competed in the long jump at Mount St. Joseph, placing fourth with a long leap of 5.49 meters.
Female Track Athlete of the Week
Alliyah Thomas, Brescia | So. - Philpot, Kentucky
Thomas departed the Mount St. Joseph Invitational with two medals, taking first in the 60 meter hurdles and second in the 200 meter dash. The sophomore clocked in at 10.28 seconds to win the hurdles event, and recorded a time of 27.88 in the 200 meter dash to claim the silver.
Female Field Athlete of the Week
Jordyn Cardwell, Brescia | Jr. - Union, Kentucky
Cardwell had a standout jumping performance at the Mount St. Joseph Invitational, placing first in both the high jump and the long jump. The junior, who also took the gold medal in the 60 meter dash, is currently the River States Conference leader in both jumping events, as well as the 60 meter dash.
