River States Players of the Week - January 20-26

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - The River States Conference is pleased to announce the Player of the Week honorees for the past week.

All awards represent contests played from Monday, January 20 through Sunday, January 26. 

Men's Basketball Players of the Week

Defensive Player of the Week
Shon Tupuola, St. Mary-of-the-Woods | So. - Center - Brownsburg, Indiana
Tupuola averaged 9.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game in the two road wins over WVU Tech and Alice Lloyd. The sophomore recorded five total blocks on the week, including three at Alice Lloyd and a pair on back-to-back possessions to begin the second half in the road win over WVU Tech. The Indiana native had 12 defensive rebounds at West Virginia Tech, and averaged 7.0 defensive rebounds over the two-game stretch.

Offensive Player of the Week
Trey Robertson, Rio Grande | Jr. - Guard - Waverly, Ohio
Robertson shot 58 percent overall, 50 percent from distance, and scored a career-high 41 points in win over IU Southeast on Thursday. The guard also added 15 more points in a blowout win over IU Columbus, helping keep the RedStorm tied for first in the RSC East Division. The Waverly, Ohio native averaged 28 points and five assists in the pair of wins.

Women's Basketball Players of the Week

Defensive Player of the Week
Jasmine Jordan, Rio Grande | Fr. - Forward - Ashland, Kentucky
In two Rio Grande victories this week, Jordan starred defensively, gathering 32 defensive rebounds to go along with five steals and three blocked shots. Jordan pulled down 16 rebounds in an 85-67 win over IU Southeast, then set new a single-game record for rebounds with 28 in a 122-56 victory over IU Columbus on Saturday. The RedStorm played solid defense all week, allowing 61.5 points per game.

Offensive Player of the Week
Jasmine Jordan, Rio Grande | Fr. - Forward - Ashland, Kentucky
Jordan averaged 28 points and 22 rebounds in a pair of home wins, including 39-point, 28-rebound performance against IU Columbus. The freshman set new a single-game record for rebounds, breaking previous high of 27. Jordan's efforts helped the RedStorm average more than 100 points per game on the week in victories over IU Southeast and IU Columbus.
    
Indoor Track Athletes of the Week

Male Track Athlete of the Week
Cameron Nocton, IU East | Jr. - Centerville, Indiana
One of the conference's best distance runners was at it again this week, competing in the race walk at Olivet Nazarene. The junior hit the NAIA "A" standard on Friday, finishing the walk in 13:22.38. Nocton is currently the RSC leader in the race walk, and his time clocks in fifth nationally entering the final week of January.

Male Field Athlete of the Week 
Gabe Wedmore, IU Kokomo | Jr. - Summitville, Indiana
Gabe Wedmore continued his strong start to 2025 over the weekend, finishing in second place in a field of 34 throwers in shot put before recording a sixth-place finish in the weight throw. In the final week of January, Wedmore currently ranks first in the River States Conference in both events, and has already hit the NAIA "B" standard in the shot put.

Female Track Athlete of the Week
Hannah Wells, IU Kokomo | Sr. - Indianapolis, Indiana
Hannah Wells had herself a busy weekend, competing at two events in separate states. Friday she competed at Olivet Nazarene, where she finished second in the 600 meters with the program's second best time ever. Saturday at Taylor she set a new school record in the 1000 meters, finishing 3rd with a time of 3:10.98. Lastly, she was a part of the distance medley relay team that finished second.

Female Field Athlete of the Week
Sydney Duncan, IU Kokomo | So. - Anderson, Indiana
Duncan tossed another A standard in shot put Saturday at Taylor, winning the event by more than three meters. She followed that up with a fourth-place finish in weight throw, coming up .13 meters shy of punching her ticket Indoor Nationals in that event as well with a school record breaking toss. She is still ranked first in the RSC in both field events, as well as first nationally in shot put.

Men's Volleyball Players of the Week

Attacker of the Week
Joao Infante, Cumberland | Jr. - Outside Hitter - Lisbon, Portugal
The Phoenix got the ball to Infante consistently across the first two matches of the season, and the Portuguese hitter converted. Infante smashed 38 kills on 71 swings, good for a .352 attack percentage. The junior had 17 kills and a .536 attack percentage in a win over Life, then added 21 kills in four sets against Reinhardt. Infante also added two aces, 13 digs, and four blocks on the week.

Setter of the Week
Danilo Negrao, Oakland City | Jr. - Setter - Brasilia, Brazil
Oakland City jumped out to a 3-0 record in their first weekend of competition, and Negrao ran the Mighty Oaks' attack efficiently. The junior racked up 118 assists across 13 sets, good for more than nine per set. His top performance came in a Saturday victory over Culver-Stockton, where he recorded 45 assists in four sets in a win. He also added 18 digs and six kills on the week.

Defender of the Week
Francesco Corradini, Cumberland | Fr. - Middle Blocker - Corridonia, Italy
Corradini was a force at the net in the first two matches of the season for the Phoenix. The Italian freshman logged nine total blocks across two matches, including six against Reinhardt. He also added three blocks - one solo and two assisted - in a three-set win over Life. Corradini also added seven kills, seven digs, and four aces in Cumberland's matches.
