DANIELS, W.Va. - For much of Monday's first round of the River States Conference Women's Golf Fall Preview, the Pomeroys of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College sat at the top of the leaderboard. By the end of the day, though, the Pomeroys had slipped to third.
Tuesday, though, was a different story.
SMWC fired a team score of 306 in the final round, and claimed the team title at Stonehaven Golf Course at the Glade Springs Resort by seven strokes over runner-up Indiana University East. SMWC's four counting golfers made seven birdies on the front nine of the final round, and built a lead that would not be relinquished.
Led by reigning RSC Golfer and Newcomer of the Year Kasey Cameron, Midway held the lead after 18 holes of play. Cameron was second overall with a three-over 75. IU East trailed by two strokes at the end of play Monday, with Maddie Campbell's 76 the team's top score. SMWC sat four strokes back, with Bailey Barker's 80 as the team's top score.
The Pomeroys took control of the tournament early on Tuesday, making seven birdies on the front nine. Three of those birdies came from Macie Shirk, who birdied three consecutive holes on 3, 4, and 5 en route to a front nine 34. Kristin Pagach was SMWC's top player on the back nine with another under par score, this time at one-under. The Pomeroys pulled away down the stretch, holding off IU East by seven strokes.
A first-year program also left West Virginia with some hardware, as IU Southeast's Emma Rowland claimed individual medalist honors. Rowland made three birdies during Monday's first round, and concluded play on Monday with an even-par score and a three-shot lead. Much of that lead evaporated across Tuesday's final round, but the freshman from Corydon, Indiana came up big down the stretch, making a birdie on the 16th hole and pars on 17 and 18 to hold of Cameron, who just missed a birdie putt on 18 that would have forced a playoff.
The 2026 RSC Women's Golf Championship is scheduled for May 3-5, back at Glade Springs Resort Golf Course in West Virginia, with action moving over to the Cobb Course, the usual site for River States Conference play. Midway University enters the championship as reigning champs, claiming the team title in 2025 by seven strokes over Indiana University East.
