KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Shawnee State (Ohio) senior guard Miyoshi Ellis was dynamic in a pair of wins in Florida for the Bears over the Thanksgiving weekend, averaging 24.5 points per game to beat both Warner (Fla.) and No. 23 Southeastern (Fla.), collecting the fifth Gared Performance Sports Systems NAIA Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week nod for the 2025-26 season.
Ellis got her week going with 23 points, eight rebounds, and three assists, adding two steals and a block in a 62-50 win over Warner. She scored 12 of her 23 points in a 27-6 second-quarter swing that ultimately led to the Bears' 12-point win over the Royals.
She followed that performance with 26 points in a 66-64 win over Southeastern, scoring 20 of her career-high 26 in the second half to hand the Fire their first loss of the season. With three seconds to go in the game, Ellis split a 64-all tie with what proved to be the game-winning lay-up, ending a 61-percent shooting performance that also included five assists and four rebounds.
Ellis finished the week 19-for-42 from the floor, adding three 3-point makes, while also converting eight of her 12 free-throw attempts on the week.
Shawnee State's schedule doesn't get any easier, hosting No. 18 Cumberlands (Ky.) on Thursday night.
