MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - The River States Conference is pleased to announce the Player of the Week honorees for the past week.
All awards represent contests played from Monday, February 10 through Sunday, February 16.
Men's Basketball Players of the Week
Defensive Player of the Week
Greg Jenkins, St. Mary-of-the-Woods | Sr. - Guard - Indianapolis, Indiana
Jenkins averaged 21.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game for SMWC as they clinched their first-ever River States Conference Regular Season Championship. On the defensice end, Jenkins tallied four steals at IU-Southeast and came back with two more pilfers at IU-Columbus as well as a trio of blocked shots He recorded a total of 10 defensive rebounds, averaging 5.0 per game, and contributed eight assists including six at IU-Columbus.
Offensive Player of the Week
Tre Beard, Shawnee State | Gr. - Guard - Chillicothe, Ohio
Shawnee State graduate student Tre Beard enjoyed arguably his finest collegiate performance at Shawnee State, then led the Bears in scoring again for the second straight game as SSU defeated RSC East Division leader Rio Grande and knocked off what was the RSC East Division co-leader in Indiana-East Tuesday and Saturday, averaging 28 points in a 2-0 week for the Bears.

Defensive Player of the Week
Cianna Gloster, Shawnee State | Sr. - Forward - Flint, Michigan
Gloster was again dominant defensively, averaging 14 rebounds, three steals and two blocks for the week to help Shawnee State seal the River States Conference's East Division crown. Gloster posted four blocks -- three over the final six-and-half minutes of play including a block on a Rio Grande three-point attempt with 33 seconds left, and nabbed the game-sealing steal with 11 seconds left to conclude matters.
Offensive Player of the Week
Kaylee Darnell | Sr. - Guard - Wheelersburg, Ohio
Darnell had another productive week for the RedStorm in contests against Shawnee State and WVU Tech. The senior scored 22 points on 56.3 percent shooting in a narrow loss to the Bears, then responded with 32 points on 52 percent shooting in a blowout win over WVU Tech. The guard averaged 27 points per game on the week, making 53.7 percent of her shots and 53.8 percent of her threes.
Men's Volleyball Players of the Week
Attacker of the Week
Daniel Bedoya, Rio Grande| Sr. - Opposite Hitter - Acacias, Columbia
Bedoya led Rio Grande on the week, and logged a .304 attack percentage in a pair of RedStorm wins. The senior hitter logged 19 kills in a four-set victory over Mount Vernon Nazarene, then was dominant in a win over Aquinas, racking up 12 kills and just one error, good for a .688 attack percentage.
Setter of the Week
Sam Mannebach, Cumberland | Sr. - Setter - Kansas City, Missouri
Mannebach helped the Cumberland Phoenix make quick work of King University on Friday, racking up 43 assists in a three-set sweep. The Kansas City native averaged more than 14 assists per set in the win, while also adding five digs on the defensive side.
Defender of the Week
Joao Infante, Cumberland | Jr. - Outside Hitter - Lisbon, Portugal
Infante played a key role on the back line for the Phoenix in a Friday victory over King University. Infante posted a double-double of 12 digs and ten kills as Cumberland continued to start the season strong with a three-set sweep over King.

Preston Shelton, IU Southeast | Sr. - Infielder - Lewisburg, Tennessee
Shelton exploded offensively for the Grenadiers in a doubleheader sweep over Northwestern Ohio on Friday. The senior infielder went 5-10 with 7 RBI in two games, and had two triples, scored a pair of runs, and logged nine total bases. The Tennessee native had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in his 6 chances.
Pitcher of the Week
Ethan Ison, Shawnee State | Jr. - Pitcher - Wheelersburg, Ohio
Ison posted a career-best performance Friday morning in Shawnee State's 6-0 victory over Goshen (Ind.) in Game 1 of a doubleheader that SSU ultimately swept, throwing a two-hitter through five innings and striking out a career-high 11 batters against the Maple Leafs. Ison struck out two batters each in the first and second innings, posted three strikeouts in the third inning after walking a batter, and struck out the side in the fourth inning to set the tone in what was a dominant performance.
