MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - The River States Conference is pleased to announce the Player of the Week honorees for the past week.
All awards represent contests played from Monday, January 27 through Sunday, February 2.
Men's Basketball Players of the Week
Defensive Player of the Week
Shon Tupuola, St. Mary-of-the-Woods | So. - Center - Brownsburg, Indiana
Shon Tupuola averaged 16 points and 13 rebounds per game as the Pomeroys earned hard fought home victories over Shawnee State and Rio Grande. The center recorded 18 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Rio Grande following up a 14 point, 16 rebound performance against Shawnee State. Tupuola hit 15-of-22 from the field, good for a 68.2 shooting percentage.
Offensive Player of the Week
Thomas Hailey, WVU Tech | Jr. - Guard - Monroe, North Carolina
Hailey averaged 27.5 points over two games while grabbing 15 boards and dishing three assists in a pair of wins for the Golden Bears. Hailey had 31 points and seven rebounds in a 74-65 victory over Brescia, and added another 24 points and eight rebounds in a 68-47 win over Oakland City. Hailey shot 78.1 percent from the field on the week, making 25 of 32 field goal attempts.

Jasmine Jordan, Rio Grande | Fr. - Forward - Ashland, Kentucky
Jordan was a rebounding machine for Rio Grande this week, pulling down 36 rebounds in games against IU Kokomo and St. Mary-of-the-Woods. The freshman had 23 points and 20 rebounds in a Thursday victory over the Cougars, then added another 23 points and 16 rebounds in a narrow loss to the Pomeroys.
Offensive Player of the Week
Cianna Gloster, Shawnee State | Sr. - Forward - Flint, Michigan
Gloster was simply dominant on both ends of the floor over the course of the week, notching career double-doubles No. 34 and No. 35 in 52 career games at Shawnee State as SSU never trailed in a 20-point victory over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods and led for 34:55 of a 40-minute affair in a 25-point win over Indiana-Kokomo.
Indoor Track Athletes of the Week
Male Track Athlete of the Week
Jacob Bumgardner, IU Kokomo | Fr. - Kokomo, Indiana
Freshman racewalker Jacob Bumgardner won the 3000 meter race walk at Olivet Nazarene Friday, earning himself a trip to the NAIA Indoor Nationals by finishing with a "B" standard time of 16:11.05. Bumgardner becomes the fourth RSC athlete to hit the NAIA "B" standard this season in the race walk.
Male Field Athlete of the Week
Luke Rader, Shawnee State | So. - Minford, Ohio
Having already enjoyed a successful indoor season to date, Rader sealed his first-ever berth to the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships, posting a 23-foot, two-and-three-quarters inch long jump to not only win the Cedarville Collegiate Invitational to obtain his first career NAIA National 'B' Standard mark. Rader not only won the event, but did so with relative ease as the sophomore was one of only two individuals to jump over 21 feet in the event.
Female Track Athlete of the Week
Maddie Dotlich, IU Kokomo | Sr. - Cicero, Indiana
Maddie delivered a strong performance in the Racewalk Friday at Olivet Nazarene, winning the event with "B" standard time of 17:19.82. Dotlich is currently ninth in the nation in the event, and currently ranks second in the River States Conference with under two weeks until the Indoor Championships in Marietta.
Female Field Athlete of the Week
Sydney Duncan, IU Kokomo | So. - Anderson, Indiana
Sydney Duncan continued her reign of terror over the weekend, punching her ticket to NAIA Indoor Nationals in Weight Throw after finishing second with a "B" standard mark of 16.64 meters. Her dominance in shot put also continued, as she won the event with an "A" standard mark of 15.71 meters.
Men's Volleyball Players of the Week
Attacker of the Week
Daniel Bedoya, Rio Grande | Sr. - Opposite Hitter - Acacias, Columbia
Bedoya powered Rio Grande's attack in the second week of the season, racking up over 100 kills in five matches. The senior led Rio Grande to a 4-1 record in those matches, and recorded at least 17 kills in each contest. His best performance came in a four-set win over Aquinas, where he racked up 26 kills in four sets, good for 6.50 kills per set.
Setter of the Week
Mitch Bartecki, Rio Grande | Jr. - Setter - Valparaiso, Indiana
Bartecki logged 192 assists on the week, averaging 9.6 assists per set in five Rio Grande matches. The junior setter averaged ten or more assists in two matches, and averaged at least 8.75 per set in all five. His weekly top performance came in a five-set nailbiter against Siena Heights, where he racked up 48 assists in a victory.
Defender of the Week
Maaz Khan, Rio Grande | Fr. - Libero - Peshawar, Pakistan
Khan was the leader of Rio Grande's defense in a busy week, which saw the RedStorm go 4-1. The freshman had 94 digs in five matches, hitting double figures in four of the five matches, all Rio Grande wins. His high on the week was 29 digs in four sets, leading the RedStorm to a victory over Park Gilbert on Friday.

Player of the Week
Jace Parnin, Shawnee State | Jr. - Infielder - Fort Wayne, Indiana
Jace Parnin was a wrecking ball, going 9-of-16 with a 2B, a HR, 8 RBI and 5 runs scored while posting an .OPS of 1.424 in Shawnee State's series win over Union Commonwealth. Parnin posted a two-RBI single and an RBI single in Game 1 and two RBI singles in Game 3 in 12-5 and 14-5 wins over the Bulldogs in Games 1 and 3, but was especially clutch in Game 4 -- where Parnin homered to left center field in the 4th inning for the first run of the game, then added in an RBI single in the 5th and an RBI double in the 7th to bring in three of Shawnee State's four runs in the series-clinching contest while coming up just a triple short of the cycle in the process.
Pitcher of the Week
Gehrig Tenhumberg, Oakland City | Sr. - Pitcher - Evansville, Indiana
Tenhumberg's first outing of the season was a brilliant one, as the righthander led the Mighty Oaks to a 2-0 victory over Tennessee Southern. The righty tossed five nearly perfect innings of work, striking out eleven hitters while allowing just one base runner via a walk. He did not allow a hit or a run in the five innings, giving the Mighty Oaks a victory.
