River States Players of the Week - March 10-16

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - The River States Conference is pleased to announce the Player of the Week honorees for the past week.

All awards represent contests played from Monday, March 10 through Sunday, March 16.

Men's Volleyball Players of the Week

Attacker of the Week
Joao Infante, Cumberland | Jr. - Outside Hitter - Lisbon, Portugal
Cumberland went 3-2 on the week, earning victories over Campbellsville, Life, and Judson. Infante logged 68 kills across the five matches, good more than than three per set. He posted an attack percent of .314, including a .414 mark in Cumberland's win over Judson. His high for kills on the week was 19 in a defeat at the hands of Lawrence Tech.

Setter of the Week
Alonzo Vega, Campbellsville | So. - Setter - Toa Alta, Puerto Rico
Vega racked up 190 assists over five matches this past week, averaging more than eleven assists per set in a 3-2 week. The sophomore setter averaged at least ten assists per set in each of the Tigers' five matches, with a high of 45 assists in Campbellsville's four set victory over Lawrence Tech on Friday.

Defender of the Week
Francesco Corradini, Cumberland | Fr. - Middle Blocker - Corridonia, Italy
In five matches this week, Corradini racked up 29 total blocks, averaging more than a block and a half per set. The freshman had five or more blocks in four of the Tigers' five matches, and ended the week with nine blocks in four sets in a Saturday victory over Judson. He also added 22 kills, 14 digs, and six service aces.

Baseball Players of the Week

Player of the Week
Trevor Goodwin, IU Southeast | Jr. - Infielder - Meade County, Kentucky
Goodwin put up video game numbers this past week, hitting .778 with five extra base hits and 9 RBI. The Kentucky native also had seven walks, which means he reached base in 14 of his 18 plate appearances for an 0.824 on base percentage (also had a sac fly). He also had a ridiculous 1.889 slugging percentage, which gave Goodwin an absurd 2.713 OPS.

Pitcher of the Week
Christian Pinson, Brescia | Jr. - Pitcher - Elizabethtown, Kentucky
Pinson had a great week on the bump for the Bearcats in their undefeated week. The junior righthander earned two wins and a save, with one of the wins a comeback victory over Montreat. Across five innings of work, the Kentucky native tallied 10 strikeouts with a 1.80 earned run average.

Softball Players of the Week

Player of the Week
Jenna Christopher, Shawnee State| Jr. - Outfielder - Huntington, West Virginia
Christopher was terrific throughout the week in the No. 2 position in the batting order, going 9-for-14 between all four games including a perfect 8-for-8 in Shawnee State's doubleheader against Indiana-Southeast. Christopher was also stout on the basepaths and in the field -- as the junior stole four bases and scored five runs over the course of the week and fielded her position at center field flawlessly, as Christopher did not commit an error in eight fielding chances.

Pitcher of the Week
Madi Ogden, Rio Grande | Sr. - Pitcher - Williamsburg, Ohio
Ogden remained nearly untouchable in the circle, leading Rio Grande to conference victories over IU Southeast and Midway. The senior struck out eight hitters over seven innings on Thursday, then added another 12 strikeouts in seven innings against Midway on Friday.

Tennis Players of the Week

Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Jose Andres Perez Perez, Oakland City | Jr. - Guanajuato, Mexico
Andres continues to shine as the junior captain for the Mighty Oaks, taking down multiple ranked opponents and continuing to dominate in doubles. The junior went 2-1 in singles play and a perfect 3-0 in doubles in Oakland City's roadtrip, and led the Mighty Oaks to a win over (RV) Campbellsville.

Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Maria Trembach, Oakland City | So. - Kyiv, Ukraine
Trembach continues to carry the weight of this strong team fighting at the number one spot. She just got ranked 16th in the country and continues to prove that number, picking up a singles win over Campbellsville and three doubles wins over Cumberlands, Lindsey Wilson, and Campbellsville.

Outdoor Track Athletes of the Week

Male Track Athlete of the Week
Troy Mason, Rio Grande | So. - Grenville, Grenada
Mason broke a 17-year-old meet record, hit A standard and set new school record in the 200 meter dash at the Myrtle Beach Challenge in South Carolina. The sophomore was also part of 4x100 meter and 4x200 meter relay units which set school records for the RedStorm.

Male Field Athlete of the Week 
Alan Austin, Shawnee State | So. - Piketon, Ohio
Austin, who threw a 49.33 meter, or 161-foot, 10-inch throw at the 2024 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in May, bettered that mark off the rip in the opening meet of the 2025 outdoor track and field season by posting a NAIA National B' Standard throw and a new personal best mark of 49.60 meters -- 162 feet, nine inches -- Friday at the Cumberlands (Ky.) Early Spring Meet.

Female Track Athlete of the Week
Grace Forrest, Rio Grande | Jr. - Woodstock, Ohio
Forrest started the outdoor season with an "A" standard time in the race walk, taking first place at the University of the Cumberlands. The junior recorded the NAIA's best outdoor time in the event, crossing the finish line at 26:15 to take first among seven athletes in Williamsburg.

Female Field Athlete of the Week
Jaina Bailey, Shawnee State | Sr. - Ironton, Ohio
The efforts of Shawnee State women's field athlete Jaina Bailey again proved to be terrific, as the Rock Hill High School alum's 143-foot, one-inch launch in the hammer throw (43.62 meters) proved to be a meet-winning performance in the event -- leading an effort where the Bears posted 44 points to finish fifth in its opening outdoor track and field event of the spring season -- the Early Spring Meet, which was held at James H. Taylor, II Stadium in Williamsburg, Ky. 

Golf Players of the Week

Male Player of the Week
Hayes Mason, Midway | Sr. - Campbellsville, Kentucky
Despite a tough third day, Mason still finished in the top-20 of an event that featured three teams in the NAIA top 10, the Kona Ice Keiser Kup in West Palm Beach, Florida. The medalist from the 2024 RSC Fall Preview was in third place after the first two days while shooting one-under par.

Female Player of the Week
Kasey Cameron, Midway | Fr. - Richmond, Kentucky
Cameron was Midway's top performer at a loaded tournament that featured the NAIA's No. 1 team and defending national champion, the NAIA's No. 6 team and a pair of NCAA Division-II teams, the Kona Ice Keiser Kup in West Palm Beach, Florida. Her best round was a 79 in the second round.
