MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - The River States Conference is pleased to announce the Player of the Week honorees for the past week.
All awards represent contests played from Monday, March 24 through Sunday, March 30.
Men's Volleyball Players of the Week
Attacker of the Week
Tinevimbo Goto, Oakland City | Fr. - Middle Blocker - Harare, Zimbabwe
Goto led the Mighty Oaks to a pair of conference victories over Midway and Brescia. The freshman had seven kills in the win over Midway, and was lethal in the win over Brescia. Against the Bearcats, he logged 19 kills on 29 swings, good for a .517 attack percentage in the three-set win.
Setter of the Week
Kristofers Klavins, St. Mary-of-the-Woods | Fr. - Setter - Riga, Latvia
Klavins recorded 79 total set assists as the Pomeroys ran their winning streak out to six in a row with a win at Cumberland (Tenn.) and in the 3-0 sweep over Brescia. The freshman posted 47 assists with a kill and six total blocks from the setter position in the win over Cumberland to complete the season sweep, and had a walkoff block to secure the match. He also added 32 set assists with three kills in the home win over Brescia, and also posted a service ace and six total digs during the two matches.
Defender of the Week
Alexander Heuer, Cumberland | So. - Defensive Specialist - Middleton, Wisconsin
Heuer made the most of his time in the back row for the Phoenix, leading the team in digs in matches against Rio Grande and IU East. The Wisconsin native logged 20 digs in four sets in a Friday victory over the RedStorm, then added another 16 digs on Saturday against the Red Wolves.

Player of the Week
Jacob Medvescek, IU Kokomo | Sr. - Outfielder - Zionsville, Indiana
Medvescek enjoyed a massive week for the Cougars, leading them to a 4-1 week and three more conference wins, extending the RSC win streak to six. The senior outfielder had ten hits in 19 at-bats, driving in ten runs and scoring nine more. He hit two home runs in the RSC Series of the Week, and had at least one hit and one RBI in each of the team's five games this week.
Pitcher of the Week
Brett Huiner, IU Kokomo | Jr. - Pitcher - Batavia, Illinois
Junior LHP Brett Huiner continued his string of strong starts in series openers last Friday at Midway, tossing seven impressive innings of one-run ball. He gave up four hits and two free passes, striking out eight as he earned the victory to improve to 3-1 on the season.
Softball Players of the Week
Player of the Week
Gabby Adams, Rio Grande| Jr. - Infielder - Grove City, Ohio
Adams had a monster week at the plate in across six games, which saw the RedStorm go 4-2. The Ohio native went 11-for-21, driving in 14 runs and scoring six more. She had at least one hit and drove in at least one run in all six games. She was especially good in a sweep of IU Columbus, going 5-for-8 with nine runs batted in and five runs scored.
Pitcher of the Week
Emma Davis, IU Southeast | So. - Pitcher - Loogootee, Indiana
Davis continued to dominate in her lone start of the week, tossing a complete game in a victory over WVU Tech. The sophomore struck out four hitters across her seven innings of work, allowing just one earned run. Davis surrendered just one walk and scattered six hits as the Grenadiers picked up a 9-2 victory.

Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Manuel Mirabal, Midway | So. - Maturin, Venezuela
Mirabal took advantage of his most extensive playing time of the season, dropping just three total sets across singles and doubles to help Midway put together a streak of three wins in three days, winning a doubles match against Shawnee State and singles matches against Kentucky Wesleyan and IU Southeast.
Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Isabela Todorovic, Oakland City | Sr. - Dorsten, Germany
Todorovic picked up her career 50th singles win in the win over IU East, part of a 3-0 week for the senior. She won both her singles and doubles match against IU Kokomo, then added a singles win over IU East. With the win over IU East, Todorovic became the all time wins leader in school history.
Outdoor Track Athletes of the Week
Male Track Athlete of the Week
Cameron Nocton, IU East | Jr. - Centerville, Indiana
Nocton on his second race walk of the outdoor season with an "A" standard at the IU East Race Walk event in Richmond, clocking in with a time of 23:23.50. His existing top time time of 21:39.52 from the Cumberlands Early Season Meet on March 14 is third best in the NAIA.
Male Field Athlete of the WeekÂ
Alan Austin, Shawnee State | So. - Piketon, Ohio
Austin's new personal best, school record and meet-winning throw of 171 feet, five inches, or 52.26 meters in the discus resulted in a NAIA National 'A' Standard in the event, marking the third consecutive NAIA National Standard performance for Austin in as many meets to begin the outdoor season as part of a strong effort for the entire men's track and field program at the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Invite, which was held Saturday in Cedarville, Ohio.
Female Track Athlete of the Week
Alexis Dean, IU East | Jr. - Fairfield, Ohio
At a race walk event hosted by the Red Wolves, Dean finished second of the six walkers in attendance. Her time of 29:05.70 set a new IU East school record, and currently stands as the second best time in River States Conference with less than a month to go before the conference championships.
Female Field Athlete of the Week
Sydney Duncan, IU Kokomo | So. - Anderson, Indiana
Indoor Shot Put National Champion Sydney Duncan dominated the competition in Shot Put Saturday at Cedarville, beating out 57 competitors with an "A" standard mark of 16.60 meters to win by nearly two meters. Her mark is currently #1 in the NAIA by 2.51 meters and good for #1 all-time in school history.

Male Player of the Week
Gage Gregory, Midway | Jr. - Monticello, Kentucky
Gregory had a monster day on Sunday at the Klash in Kentucky, shooting a three-under par score of 70, which was the best individual round of any one in the tournament. The junior had six birdies on the final day, including three in a row at one point, and finished tied for second in the tournament.
Female Player of the Week
Kasey Cameron, Midway | Fr. - Richmond, Kentucky
The reigning River States Fall Preview medalist finished just two strokes off the lead in a tie for second with the No. 43 golfer in the country at the Klash in Kentucky. As a team, Eagles finished second only to No. 21 nationally ranked Pikeville at Perry Park Golf Resort.
