River States Players of the Week - Feb. 24-March 2

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - The River States Conference is pleased to announce the Player of the Week honorees for the past week.

All awards represent contests played from Monday, February 24 through Sunday, March 2.

Men's Volleyball Players of the Week

Attacker of the Week
Joao Infante, Cumberland | Jr. - Outside Hitter - Lisbon, Portugal
Infante was hard to stop this past week, logging 46 kills and a .444 attack percentage in three matches. The junior outside hitter led the Phoenix to conference wins over Rio Grande and IU East, and logged a weekly high of 19 kills and a .567 attack percentage in the win over the Red Wolves.

Setter of the Week
Alonzo Vega, Campbellsville | So. - Setter - Toa Alta, Puerto Rico
Campbellsville is off to a 5-0 start in RSC play, with Vega leading the way from the setter position. The sophomore racked up 140 assists in conference wins over St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Oakland City, and Rio Grande, including 56 in a five-set win over the Pomeroys. The Puerto Rico native also added 21 digs and four blocks on the week.

Defender of the Week
Francesco Corradini, Cumberland | Fr. - Middle Blocker - Corridonia, Italy
Corradini was a brick well at the net this past week, logging 24 total blocks in four matches. 22 of those blocks came in three conference matches against Midway, Rio Grande, and IU East, all wins for the Phoenix. The Italian freshman's top performance came in a four-set win over Rio Grande, where he finished with ten total blocks. 

Baseball Players of the Week

Player of the Week
Logan Beard, IU Southeast | Sr. - Infielder - Goshen, Kentucky
Beard obliterated pitching this past week, leading the Grenadiers to a 5-0 mark. In games against Madonna, Georgetown, and IU Kokomo, the senior hit .471 in five games with 2 homers, 3 doubles, and 13 runs batted in. Beard hit .500 with 1 homer and 9 RBI in three games against IU Kokomo to open conference play.

Pitcher of the Week
Jackson Lee, Midway | Sr. - Pitcher - Effingham, Illinois
Lee helped clinch an RSC opening sweep of WVU Tech with a dominant, three-inning save where he recorded seven strikeouts across three innings of work. The senior righthander ensured a 6-4 win over the Golden Bears with three scoreless, hitless innings, with the only runner to reach base doing so via a walk.

Softball Players of the Week

Player of the Week
McKenzie Walters, IU Southeast | So. - Infielder - Lizton, Indiana
Walters had a monster week for the Grenadiers, hitting .563 with four extra base hits and five runs batted in. In four games, the sophomore logged nine hits, four of which were doubles. She played a major role in the Grenadiers' victory over Indiana Wesleyan, going 3-for-4 with three doubles and three runs batted in.

Pitcher of the Week
Madi Ogden, Rio Grande | Sr. - Pitcher - Williamsburg, Ohio
Ogden Mowed down Defiance, then picked up a win and a save against No. 3 Cumberlands. The senior struck out five in three no-hit innings against Defiance, then struck out 17 hitters in 10.1 innings of work against a powerhouse club from Cumberlands. Ogden's efforts helped the RedStorm earn a series win over the Patriots.

Tennis Players of the Week

Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Juanes Pinto, Oakland City | Jr. - Ambato, Ecuador
Pinto has started the year 4-0 in singles against a tough D1 opponent, and 2 receiving votes teams. The junior from Ecuador is on a hot streak leading the team in wins this season. He picked up singles wins against RV teams in Pikeville and Bethel, as well as a straight sets win over Freed Hardeman.

Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Melissa de Jong, Oakland City | Fr. - Limburg, Netherlands
de Jong started the year with an injury, but jumped right in this weekend helping the Mighty Oaks upset #22 Bethel. de Jong went 5-1 on the week, including singles wins in all three Oakland City matches. The freshman helped the Mighty Oaks to wins over Freed Hardeman, Bethel, and Tennessee Southern.
