MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - The River States Conference is pleased to unveil the individual award winners in the sport of tennis for the 2025 season, as selected by the league's head coaches. The tennis program at Oakland City University won five of the conference's six major awards, including both Player of the Year honors. The awards were announced less than 24 hours before the start of the RSC Tennis Tournament in Evansville, Indiana.

Jose Andres Perez Perez was named the Men's Tennis Player of the Year. The Mexico native enters the conference tournament as part of the nation's third ranked doubles team with partner Nelson Ramos, and also ranks 70th in the nation in singles play. Perez and Ramos never lost more than three points in conference doubles play, and the junior finished the regular season undefeated in singles action in conference play.

Oakland City also won the Newcomer of the Year in men's tennis, with Agustin Siufi winning the award. A freshman from Jujuy, Argentina, he is also nationally ranked by the ITA, ranking 50th in the nation in doubles action with partner Willem Cilliers. Siufi, like his teammate above, went undefeated in both singles and doubles play during his first trip around the River States Conference.

On the women's side, Maria Trembach was named the Player of the Year to account for the third Mighty Oak to win an award. Trembach is ranked 34th in the nation in singles play, and also went undefeated in River States Conference play.

The lone player from outside Oakland City to win a tennis award was women's tennis Newcomer of the Year Jada Flakes of Brescia University. Flakes was the top player and captain for the Bearcats, logging three singles wins against IU Southeast, IU East, and Shawnee State. In addition, she earned doubles wins with different partners against IU East and Shawnee State.

Oakland City head coach Colin Dixon was honored by his peers as the Coach of the Year in both women's and men's tennis. The Mighty Oaks won the regular season championship in both genders, posting an unbeaten record of 6-0 on the women's side and 5-0 on the men's side. The Oakland City men did not drop a point in conference play, winning all five of their matches by 7-0 scores, while the women surrendered just a single point.

Each of the conference's six men's teams and the top six women's teams will head to Evansville, Indiana this weekend for the 2025 River States Conference Tennis Tournament. The winners of the tournament, which has quarterfinal and semifinal rounds scheduled for Friday and the championship match slated for Saturday, will earn the RSC's automatic berths into the NAIA Tournament, which begins May 13 in its usual location of Mobile, Alabama.
