MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - The River States Conference is pleased to announce the Player of the Week honorees for the past week.
All awards represent contests played from Monday, April 21 through Sunday, April 27.
Baseball Players of the Week
Player of the Week
Jace Parnin, Shawnee State | Jr. - Utility - Fort Wayne, Indiana
Parnin was, simply put, ridiculous against Rio Grande, going a perfect 10-for-10 at the plate and reaching base in all 13 of his plate appearances (two walks and a hit by pitch as well) while posting a collective .OPS of 2.900 in Shawnee State's three-game series sweep of Rio Grande over the weekend. In doing so, Parnin posted five extra base hits out of his 10 hits
Pitcher of the Week
Aiden Darlage, IU Southeast | Fr. - Pitcher - Seymour, Indiana
Darlage came out of the bullpen three times in the final week of the regular season, and proved to be dominant. The freshman tossed 7.2 total innings, allowing just two hits without a run crossing the plate. Darlage earned the win following 3.2 scoreless innings of relief against WVU Tech, striking out six hitters. He logged a 0.52 WHIP on the week.
Softball Players of the Week
Player of the Week
Maddie Engler, Rio Grande | So. - Outfielder - Crestline, Ohio
Three of Engler's eight hits on the week were extra-base hits, while the sophomore scored nine runs and drew eight walks in Rio's 6-0 week. The outfielder hit .571 and had on-base percentage of .727, reaching base in 16 of 22 plate appearances. She was on base in every plate appearance against IU Columbus on Sunday to finish the regular season.
Pitcher of the Week
Madi Ogden, Rio Grande | Sr. - Pitcher - Williamsburg, Ohio
The line for Ogden was simple: three appearances, three complete games, three shutouts, three wins. The senior was one out away from a perfect game against Ohio Christian, and has now thrown six straight shutouts for a scoreless streak of 38-1/3 consecutive innings. In that stretch, she had a no-hitter at Oakland City and also came within an out of a perfect game against Ohio Christian.
Golf Players of the Week
Male Player of the Week
Hayes Mason, Midway | Sr. - Campbellsville, Kentucky
Ahead of this week's River States Conference championships, Mason led the Midway effort at the Sagamore Shootout in Noblesville. Mason shot a one-over 73 in round two, the second-best score in a field that included two NAIA top-15 ranked teams. He finished sixth overall in a field that including nine of the top 150 golfers in the NAIA.
