MARION, Ind. - Having won the 2025 NAIA Indoor Shot Put Championship in dominant fashion earlier this year, IU Kokomo sophomore Sydney Duncan earned the 2025 NAIA Outdoor Shot Put Title Thursday afternoon to add to her already storied career.

Entering the week seeded first with a mark of 16.60 meters that was 1.68 meters clear of the second seed's best mark, Sydney was a clear favorite to win her second career National Championship.

Duncan stepped up for her second throw of Flight #2 action in second-place before delivering her best throw of the day, a throw of 16.79 meters that would eventually win her a National Championship.

Despite not bettering that mark in the Finals, Sydney still cruised to the title, with Concordia's (Neb.) Abigail Gerber finishing 1.66 meters back of Duncan in second place. The National Championship is the third in IU Kokomo Athletic Department history (Duncan - 2, Grant Gaylor - 1).

Head Coach Josh Colvin had this to say in regards to Duncan earning a second National Championship: "It was not a matter of if she would win and become our first female National Champion in Outdoor Track & Field, but more of a matter of how far she would throw. She wanted to break 17 meters, and although she did not quite get there, she set a new school record and is the 2025 NAIA Outdoor Shot Put Champion!"
