River States Players of the Week - September 28-October 4, 2026

OXFORD, Ohio - The River States Conference is pleased to announce the Player of the Week honorees for the past week.

All awards represent contests played from Monday, September 28 through Sunday, October 4.

Women's Volleyball Players of the Week

Attacker of the Week
Mya Grigsby, IU Kokomo | Junior - Outside Hitter - Greenfield, Indiana
Grigsby delivered a dominant, record-breaking week for IU Kokomo, totaling 58 kills across three matches while averaging 4.83 kills per set and hitting an impressive .371. Grigsby capped the week with a historic performance Saturday against IU Columbus, putting down a program-record 34 kills to establish a new IU Kokomo record for kills in a match. Her week also included another major career milestone, as Grigsby surpassed 1,000 career digs in Friday’s sweep of IU Southeast. 

Setter of the Week
Lydia Steyer, Rio Grande | Junior - Setter - Perrysburg, Ohio
Steyer set Rio up for a season-best .440 attack percentage as a team in rout of WVU Tech. Steyer had 36 assists in the victory over the Golden Bears, averaging 12 assists per set. She also had nine digs in the win, and contributed two kills and two blocks.

Defender of the Week
Avery Littrell, IU Kokomo | Senior - Libero - Coatesville, Indiana
Littrell anchored the IU Kokomo back row during a 3-0 week, totaling 60 digs for an average of 5.0 digs per set while adding 12 assists and three service aces. Littrell recorded 20 digs in a four-set win over IU East and 14 in a sweep of IU Southeast before delivering a week-high 26 digs, six assists and two aces in Saturday’s five-set win over IU Columbus.

Men's Soccer Players of the Week

Offensive Player of the Week
George Spencer, Midway | Senior - Forward - Yeovil, England
Spencer led Midway to a 2-0 week, scoring four goals and totaling eight points across two matches. Spencer scored once in the Eagles’ 2-0 River States Conference victory at Kentucky Christian before recording a hat trick, including the game-winning goal, in a 6-2 victory over Boyce. He finished the week with 13 shots, placing eight on goal, while converting 30.8 percent of his attempts.

Defensive Player of the Week
Samy Hamou, Rio Grande | Sophomore - Goalkeeper - Paris, France
Hamou led the way as Rio Grande won the RSC Match of the Week against defending national runner-up WVU Tech. The sophomore stopped five shots in a clean sheet, as the RedStorm took control of the conference with a 2-0 home victory. 

Women's Soccer Players of the Week

Offensive Player of the Week
Mia Runyan, IU East | Senior - Forward - Cincinnati, Ohio
Runyan earned a point in every game she played in the week, scoring a goal while having three assists. She helped the Red Wolves go 3-0 on the week, picking up a non-conference win over Manchester and RSC triumphs over IU Kokomo and St. Mary-of-the-Woods.

Defensive Player of the Week
Cameela Walters, IU East | Freshman - Goalkeeper - Swartz Creek, Michigan
Cameela collected two clean sheets in conference play last week, only needing four saves in the two wins. She led the Red Wolves to a 2-0 road victory over IU Kokomo on Thursday, then finished the week with a 3-0 home win over St. Mary-of-the-Woods.

Cross Country Runners of the Week

Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Thomas Hogan, IU East | Sophomore - Leopold, Indiana
Hogan finished sixth amongst many NCAA Division I teams at the Nike XC Town Twilight, held in Terre Haute at the site of next month's River States Conference Championships. Hogan was the fastest NAIA runner in his flight, completing the course in 25:27.7

Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Lexus Ralph, Midway | Senior - Owensboro, Kentucky
Lexus Ralph led Midway at the Louisville Cross Country Classic, finishing 24th overall in the Women’s 5K Silver race with a time of 20:00.2. Ralph finished in the top 12 percent of a field featuring 200 runners and was Midway’s top individual finisher. Her performance helped lead the Eagles to an eighth-place team finish in a field featuring 32 scoring and non-scoring programs.

Golfers of the Week

Men's Golfer of the Week
Noah Mulford, IU East | Sophomore - Powell, Ohio
Mulford won individual medalist honors 
The individual medalist race at the RSC Fall Preview was a dramatic one, as Mulford and Kadin Gibson battled for what turned out to be 40 holes. The two golfers played even for three playoff holes, making back-to-back pars on the 18th and carding a bogey on the 10th. Mulford, who carded scores of 69 and 71, finally broke through on the 11th.
