OXFORD, Ohio - The River States Conference is pleased to announce the Player of the Week honorees for the past week.
All awards represent contests played from Monday, February 23 through Sunday, March 1.
Men's Volleyball Players of the Week
Attacker of the Week
Arthur Barreto, IU East | Sr. - Outside Hitter - Sao Paolo, Brazil
IU East currently sits near the top of the River States Conference standings, in no small part because of Arthur Barreto. Barreto had 23 kills and nine digs to help the Red Wolves sweep this past week against Midway and Rio Grande in RSC play.
Setter of the Week
Alonzo Vega, Campbellsville | Jr. - Setter - Toa Alta, Puerto Rico
Vega flawlessly navigated the Tigers to three consecutive victories, dishing out 118 total assists for an average of nearly 11 helpers per set. He opened the week by dealing a massive 49 assists in the road win over Brescia, maintaining a highly balanced distribution that allowed multiple attackers to shine in every match.
Defender of the Week
Andrew Ovalle, Campbellsville | So. - Defensive Specialist - Miami, Florida
Ovalle was a stabilizing force in the backcourt all week, averaging an elite 4.18 digs per set to consistently neutralize opposing attackers. His defensive court coverage was spectacular during the weekend homestand, highlighted by a staggering 18-dig performance in a quick three-set sweep over Oakland City.

Jack Amis, Shawnee State | Jr. - Outfielder - Wintersville, Ohio
Amis played a key role in Shawnee State's sweep of Rio Grande in the RSC Series of the Week. The junior went 6-for-10 across the three games, driving in six runs and scoring four. He belted a home run in game three of the series, and ended the weekend with a slugging percentage of 1.100.
Pitcher of the Week
Weston Harvey, IU Southeast | Fr. - Pitcher - Indianapolis, Indiana
Harvey's first River States Conference start was a sensational one, as the Indianapolis native tossed five shutout innings in a 4-0 victory over WVU Tech on Saturday. The righthander allowed just one hit, striking out eight Golden Bear hitters without surrendering a walk.
Softball Players of the Week
Player of the Week
Bailey Cox, Oakland City | Jr. - Catcher/Second Base - Mount Vernon, Indiana
Cox was the leader for the Mighty Oaks in a successful trip to Florida, where Oakland City posted a 4-1 record at the USSSA Space Coast Spring Games. The junior went 10-for-19, driving in seven runs. Her best performance came in a 12-3 victory over Fort Lauderdale, where she went 4-for-5 with four runs batted in.
Pitcher of the Week
Destiny Forler, IU Columbus | Fr. - Pitcher - Martinsville, Indiana
Forler was the winning pitcher for the Crimson Pride in both games of their doubleheader with Grace Christian. The freshman came out of the bullpen to record the final four outs of game one, then tossed six innings in a 7-1 win in game two. Across 7.1 innings, she allowed just one run on three hits, striking out nine.

Alejo Chlpac, Oakland City | So. - Buenos Aires, Argentina
Chlpac has been an outstanding player for the Mighty Oaks so far this spring. He has posted a 5-0 record against players from schools ranked in the NAIA Top 25, winning two singles matches and three doubles matches.
Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Silvia Fernandez de la Pradilla, Oakland City | Jr. - Marietta, Ohio
Fernandez de la Pradilla has played at the top of Oakland City lineup this spring. She has not dropped a set in singles matches against Georgetown, Cumberland, and Tennessee Southern, and has won her doubles matches at the second flight against the same opponents.
