River States Players of the Week - March 30-April 5, 2026

OXFORD, Ohio - The River States Conference is pleased to announce the Player of the Week honorees for the past week.

All awards represent contests played from Monday, March 30 through Sunday, April 5.

Men's Volleyball Players of the Week

Attacker of the Week
Joao Infante, Cumberland | Sr. - Outside Hitter - Lisbon, Portugal
Joao Infante led Cumberland to a 4-0 week, highlighted by a 3-1 victory over No. 12 Reinhardt, totaling 61 kills while hitting .480 and averaging 4.69 kills per set. He was dominant in conference play, recording 46 kills on a .557 hitting percentage, including a 22-kill performance against Indiana East. Infante added 10 digs, seven blocks, and 68.0 total points on the week

Setter of the Week
Alonzo Vega, Campbellsville | Jr. - Setter - Toa Alta, Puerto Rico
Vega orchestrated the Campbellsville offense with sheer perfection, dealing out exactly 38 assists in both straight-set victories to average a massive 12.67 assists per set. His elite distribution and decision-making guided the Tigers to a blistering .465 team hitting percentage against Midway and a .317 clip against Rio Grande, keeping opposing blockers guessing all weekend long.

Defender of the Week
Francesco Corradini, Cumberland | So. - Middle Blocker - Corridonia, Italy
Corradini was a force at the net in Cumberland's 4-0 week, which included three sweeps in River States Conference play. The sophomore racked up 15 blocks on the week, powered by seven in a Friday victory over Rio Grande. He had at least one block in each of the Phoenix's four wins.

Baseball Players of the Week

Player of the Week
Taylor Voorhees, Midway | Jr. - First Base - St. Joseph, Illinois
Voorhees had a .545 average with eight RBIs and a critical three-run home run to help Midway earn a three-game sweep of Shawnee State on Friday and Saturday. He reached base in all five Midway games on the week, logging a .615 OBP and .909 slugging percentage.

Pitcher of the Week
Weston Harvey, IU Southeast | Fr. - Pitcher - Indianapolis, Indiana
Harvey shut down IU Columbus on Thursday, tossing six shutout innings in a 13-0 victory over the Crimson Pride. The freshman allowed just two baserunners in his six innings of work, and struck out eleven of the 20 hitters he faced in the victory.

Softball Players of the Week

Player of the Week
Jordan Bufford, Oakland City | Jr. - Infield - Paducah, Kentucky
Bufford helped Oakland City remain in first place in the River States Conference with a 3-1 week. The junior hit safely in all four contests, logging three multi-hit efforts. Bufford went 3-for-4 with a home run in the first of four games with SMWC, then hit a second home run and drove in five in the week's finale.

Pitcher of the Week
Grace Butcher, Oakland City | Jr. - Pitcher - Washington, Indiana
In what amounted to a four-game series with St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Butcher pitched in all three of Oakland City's victories. The junior struck out 15 hitters across 13.1 innings, allowing just nine hits. Her efforts included a complete game shutout win in the opener. 

Tennis Players of the Week

Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Ricardo Starosta, Midway | Jr. - Porta Alegre, Brazil
Ricardo improved to 5-0 on the season at the No. 1 singles position, highlighted by a straight-set victory over the No. 44 ranked player in the country Jacopo Cianfarini of Cumberlands. He also won both of his matches against Campbellsville.

Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Alicia Sanglas Sanglas, Midway | Fr. - Barcelona, Spain
Sanglas Sanglas had a dominant performance against a RV Campbellsville team, dropping just two games across singles and doubles. She won at the top singles spot by a 6-0, 6-1 score to account for the lone Midway point, and teamed with Emma Pheiffer to earn a 6-1 win at the top doubles spot.

Golfers of the Week

Male Golfer of the Week
Sam Firebaugh, IU East | Sr. - Zionsville, Indiana
Firebaugh tied for the top spot among River States Conference golfers at the Midway Eagle Invitational, tying for seventh with a 36-hole score of 151. He had the best single round of any RSC player in the field, shooting a one-over 73 in the final round.

Female Golfer of the Week
Kasey Cameron, Midway | So. - Richmond, Kentucky
At the Midway Eagle Invitational, Cameron came back from a five-stroke deficit after day one to earn medalist honors for Midway, which took first as a team at their home event. Cameron's rally came via firing a 77 in the final round on the University of Kentucky's course.

Outdoor Track Athletes of the Week

Male Track Athlete of the Week
Tristan Thomas, IU East | Sr. - Whiteland, Indiana
Thomas finished first in the 100 meters and 4x100 meter relay at the Jenna Strong Invitational, setting a pair of IU East records. He clocked in at 11.06 seconds in the 100 despite a 3.6 headwind, then ran the anchor leg of IU East's relay, setting the current top mark in the RSC.

Male Field Athlete of the Week
Jerahmia Smith, SMWC | Sr. - Phoenix, Arizona
Smith recorded the top mark in the shot put this season in the RSC at the Pacesetter Invitational, launching the shot 16.39 meters. His mark was good enough for third place overall behind a pair of Division I throwers, and currently ranks seventh in the nation. 

Female Track Athlete of the Week
Mackenzie Rohde, IU East | So. - Hamilton, Ohio
At the Jenna Strong Invitational, Mackenzie Rodhe earned a pair of gold medal finishes. The sophomore placed first in the 400 meters with a time of 58.34 seconds, which was an IU East school record and currently ranks first in the RSC. She also ran the anchor leg in the 4x100 meter relay, setting another school record.

Female Field Athlete of the Week
Sydney Duncan, IU Kokomo | Jr. - Anderson, Indiana
Sydney finished 1st in the Shot Put, 2nd in the Discus and 5th in the Hammer Throw hitting the NAIA B Standard. She was only defeated by NCAA Division 1 throwers. She continues to lead the conference in all three throwing events and is ranked #1 in the nation in the Shot Put, #2 in the nation in the Discus, and #16 in the nation in Hammer Throw.
