OXFORD, Ohio- The River States Conference is pleased to announce the selection of Indiana University East's Tim Scales as the 2025-26 River States Conference Faculty-Athletics Representative of the Year. Amstutz was selected as the 2025-26 winner of the award after a vote of the RSC's member institutions.
Scales is the first IU East Faculty-Athletics Representative to win the award since its establishment in 2017. He is also the first from the IU system to win since the inaugural year, when IU Southeast's Chris Cox was honored.
Scales serves as a Senior Lecturer for Entrepreneurship, and is also the Director for the Center for Entrepreneurship in addition to his role as the faculty-athletics representative for the Red Wolves.
In his nomination materials, it was noted that Scales wears multiple hats to ensure the success of the IU East athletic department.
"Tim not only handles all the FAR responsibilities well, he runs our pre-game Sponsor of the Game promotions for all indoor sports," the nominator noted. "He recruits the sponsors and includes the game ball presentations with the officials."
The RSC Faculty-Athletics Representative of the Year award was established in 2016-17. Its purpose is to recognize one FAR within the conference each year for outstanding service and dedication to the role with an RSC and NAIA athletic department and campus.
The FAR is a member of the faculty who works with the athletic department to certify the eligibility of all student-athletes at that institution before they can represent the school in competition. The FAR cannot be a coach or an athletics administrator and is well versed in the rules and regulations of the NAIA.
