OXFORD, Ohio - The River States Conference is pleased to announce the Player of the Week honorees for the past week.
All awards represent contests played from Friday, August 14 through Sunday, August 16.

Attacker of the Week
Karla Melendez Martinez, St. Mary-of-the-Woods | Senior - Outside Hitter - Caguas, Puerto Rico
Karla Melendez Martinez helped lead Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College to a perfect 4-0 opening week, highlighted by a straight-set victory over Huntington University, which was receiving votes in the NAIA preseason national poll. Melendez Martinez currently leads the NAIA nationally in kills per set after the opening weekend. In three matches, Melendez Martinez averaged an impressive 4.70 kills per set while hitting .346 across 10 sets. She totaled 47 kills on 107 attacks with only 10 errors and produced 53.0 points, averaging 5.30 points per set.
Setter of the Week
Olivia Barber, IU East | Freshman - Setter - Rensselaer, Indiana
Olivia registered a 7.14 assists per game in her first collegiate matches of her career. She also picked up 10 digs and 2 total blocks in two matches. She logged 33 assists in IU East's win over Governors State, then added another 17 assists against Defiance.
Defender of the Week
Gaby Fernandez, St. Mary-of-the-Woods | Junior - Libero - Arecibo, Puerto Rico
Gaby Fernandez anchored the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College back row during the Pomeroys' perfect 4-0 opening week, turning in several outstanding defensive performances as SMWC rolled through its opening weekend. Fernandez totaled 51 digs across nine sets, averaging an impressive 5.67 digs per set, while also going a perfect 48-for-48 in serve receive over her three appearances.
