OXFORD, Ohio - The River States Conference is pleased to announce the Player of the Week honorees for the past week.
All awards represent contests played from Monday, September 21 through Sunday, September 27.
Women's Volleyball Players of the Week
Attacker of the Week
Averie Bruce, Rio Grande | Senior - Middle Blocker - Baltimore, Ohio
Bruce led the RedStorm across three matches this past week, including a pair of River States Conference wins. The senior logged 40 kills in matches against Lindsey Wilson, IU East, and Midway. She was sensational in a crucial East Division win over IU East, logging 20 kills and six total blocks.
Setter of the Week
Lydia Steyer, Rio Grande | Junior - Setter - Perrysburg, Ohio
Steyer served as the creator in Rio Grande's attack this past week, leading the RedStorm to a 2-1 record. The junior racked up 111 assists, 32 digs, and nine total blocks in games against Lindsey Wilson, IU East, and Midway, with both wins coming in RSC play.
Defender of the Week
Gracie Perkins, Rio Grande | Sophomore - Middle Hitter - Wheelersburg, Ohio
Perkins was a wall on defense in Rio Grande's three matches this week, racking up 18 blocks across 12 sets. Her best match was in a crucial East Division win over IU East, where she logged nine total blocks. She also added 37 kills and a .337 attack percentage on the week.

Tommy Munoz Salazar, Rio Grande | Senior - Midfielder - San Jose, Costa Rica
Munoz Salazar had a career game on Thursday, leading the way as Rio Grande started conference play with a 9-0 drubbing of Kentucky Christian. The Costa Rican midfielder scored his first three goals of the season, and added to his hat trick with an assist.
Defensive Player of the Week
Jonathan Tucker, Brescia | Freshman - Goalkeeper - Dunedin, New Zealand
Tucker gave the Bearcats some momentum heading into River States Conference play with a shutout of Hannibal-LaGrange on Saturday. The freshman turned away all four shots on goal, posting a clean sheet in Brescia's 3-0 home victory.

Amora Albano, Rio Grande | Junior - Forward - Athens, Ohio
Albano started River States Conference play with a bang, scoring three goals and assisting on another in Rio Grande's 10-0 victory over Kentucky Christian. Through seven matches, Albano is second on the RedStorm with six goals and 17 points, and leads the team with five assists.
Defensive Player of the Week
Savannah Jo Barnett, Brescia | Freshman - Goalkeeper - Dawson Springs, Kentucky
Barnett came up big for the Bearcats, who earned a 1-1 draw on the road against Georgetown. The freshman made six saves against the Tigers, keeping the Bearcats in the match until an 89th minute goal allowed Brescia to leave Toyota Stadium with a road point.

Men's Golfer of the Week
Luke Cofer, IU East | Freshman - New Palestine, Indiana
Cofer led IU East's efforts at the Forest Hills Invitational, where the Red Wolves won the team title by four strokes over crosstown rival Earlham. Cofer finished second overall at Forest Hills, shooting a 74 in the first round before firing a two-over 72 in the second.
Women's Golfer of the Week
Renae Jaeger, SMWC | Senior - Kalamazoo, Michigan
Jaeger captured the individual championship at the LTU Fall Invitational, carding a 6-over-par 77 at Farmington Hills Golf Club in her home state of Michigan. Jaeger finished one stroke ahead of Lawrence Tech’s Cadance Beuckelare and topped a 47-player field to earn her second tournament title of the fall season.
