OXFORD, Ohio - The River States Conference is pleased to announce the Player of the Week honorees for the past week.
All awards represent contests played from Monday, August 17 through Sunday, August 23.
Women's Volleyball Players of the Week
Attacker of the Week
Mya Grigsby, IU Kokomo | Junior - Outside Hitter - Greenfield, Indiana
Grigsby delivered a strong all-around performance across four matches, totaling 65 kills, 39 digs, three service aces, five total blocks, three assists, and 70 points while helping IU Kokomo to a 3-1 record on opening weekend. Grigsby opened the season with a career-high 27 kills and 15 digs in a 3-1 win over Southeastern, with her 27 kills marking the most by a Cougar in a four-set match in program history. She added 14 kills and 12 digs against No. 11 Missouri Baptist before closing the weekend with 20 kills and nine digs in a 3-1 victory over Campbellsville.
Setter of the Week
Lydia Steyer, Rio Grande | Junior - Setter - Perrysburg, Ohio
Steyed helped the RedStorm earn two victories at the OnSet Invitational. She logged 140 assists over four matches, averaging 9.33 assists per set. She had her best performance in a five-set win over Loyola New Orleans, racking up 53 assists and adding 18 digs.
Defender of the Week
Gaby Fernandez, St. Mary-of-the-Woods | Junior - Libero - Arecibo, Puerto Rico
Fernandez anchored the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods defense during three victories at the Blue Angel Bash, recording 78 digs across 10 sets for an outstanding 7.80 digs per set. She opened with 31 digs, seven assists and three service aces in a four-set victory over Judson before collecting 21 digs and three aces in a sweep of Mount Marty. Fernandez capped the weekend with 26 digs in a three-set victory against Missouri Valley, averaging 8.67 digs per set. She also totaled 14 assists and six aces while posting a .918 reception percentage across 73 attempts. 4th nationally in digs per set

Offensive Player of the Week
Facundo Rossich, Rio Grande | Sophomore - Forward - Buenos Aires, Argentina
Rossich scored a goal in each of Rio’s two wins in the Rio Grande Classic. Rossich scored what proved to be the game-winner in the RedStorm's 2-0 victory over St. Xavier, then converted on his lone chance in a 3-0 victory over Northwestern Ohio.
Defensive Player of the Week
Samy Hamou, Rio Grande | Sophomore - Goalkeeper - Paris, France
Hamou led the Rio Grande defense to a pair of shutouts to start the 2026 season. Hamou made one save in a 2-0 victory over St. Xavier on Thursday, then added five saves in a 3-0 triumph over Northwestern Ohio on Saturday.

Offensive Player of the Week
Kaitlyn Swartzendruber, IU Kokomo | Freshman - Forward - Goshen, Indiana
Freshman forward Kaitlyn Swartzendruber scored five goals across two matches, including an unassisted goal against Harris-Stowe State University on Aug. 20. She followed with four goals and an assist in a dominant 22-0 victory over Mission University on Aug. 22. Swartzendruber totaled 12 shots, including 10 on goal, across the two matches while scoring three of her six goals unassisted.
Defensive Player of the Week
Lexi Boyd, Rio Grande | Sophomore - Defender - Ashland, Kentucky
Boyd played a major role in getting the RedStorm season off to a solid start. The sophomore helped limit Georgetown to just two shots on frame in a season opening victory, as Rio Grande earned a 3-1 win on the road.
