MARIETTA, Ohio - The University of Rio Grande's dominance under head coach Matt Paxton on the men's side shows no signs of slowing down.

The RedStorm won their second straight River States Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship Saturday on the campus of Marietta College, finishing the 2026 Championships with 259.5 points. The RedStorm men have now won four consecutive championships in athletics (track and cross country), dating back to last season's Indoor Championships.

Indiana University East finished in second place, taking home the runner-up hardware with 139 points. The Cougars of Indiana University Kokomo rounded out the top three, finishing with 129 points. Rio Grande head coach Matt Paxton was honored for the second year in a row as the RSC Coach of the Year.

Rio Grande started to pull away from the field on Day 1, leaving the venue Friday night with a lead of 20.5 points over second place Shawnee State. The RedStorm posted 72.5 points on the first day of competition, which features seven of the Championships' 20 events. Shawnee State sat second at 52 points, with IU East third at 48. That lead was built on consistency across the events, with only mainstay Tyler Jenkins winning gold, doing so in the 5,000 meters.

The RedStorm started racking up the gold medals on Saturday, winning five track events en route to widening their lead. Kasy Science was the big winner, claiming gold in both the 800 and 1000m runs. Tyler Jenkins added a second gold medal by winning the 3000m run, while Milan Tobiska (200m) and Trevon Houston both added victories for the back-to-back champions.

The Track and Field Athletes of the Year were both repeat winners, as Rio Grande's Tyler Jenkins won the track award and Shawnee State's Luke Rader claimed the field honor. Jenkins swept the distance events at 3000 and 5000 meters, while Rader won gold in the long jump and the triple jump. The Newcomer of the Year, Milan Tobiska, also hailed from Rio Grande. Tobiska won gold in the 200, and claimed silver in the 55m dash and the long jump.

Athletes from around the conference will now turn their attention to the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships, held again this year in Gainesville, Florida. Qualifying athletes will be announced in the coming week, with action in Alachua County, Florida set to begin on March 5 and continue through March 7.
