OXFORD, Ohio - The River States Conference is pleased to announce the Player of the Week honorees for the past week.
All awards represent contests played from Monday, March 2 through Sunday, March 8.
Men's Volleyball Players of the Week
Attacker of the Week
Joao Infante, Cumberland | Sr. - Outside Hitter - Lisbon, Portugal
Infante powered Cumberland to a 3-0 week, averaging 4.30 kills per set while hitting .322 across 10 sets. He opened the week with a dominant 22-kill performance on .452 hitting in a four-set win at Mount Vernon Nazarene, finishing with 26 points and four total blocks. Infante added 14 kills in a sweep of Indiana East and totaled 43 kills, 52 points, and 10 blocks on the week, anchoring the Phoenix attack in both conference victories.
Setter of the Week
Abdallah Roshdy, Cumberland | So. - Setter - Cairo, Egypt
Roshdy directed the Phoenix offense to a 3-0 week, dishing out 82 assists (8.20 assists per set) across 10 sets. He recorded 42 assists and averaged 10.5 assists per set in a four-set road win at Mount Vernon Nazarene, while adding 31 assists in a sweep of Rio Grande in conference play. Roshdy also contributed 12 digs.
Defender of the Week
Camilo Fernandez, Campbellsville | Fr. - Outside Hitter - Chile
Fernandez delivered a cinematic defensive performance at the net against Midway, building an insurmountable wall that entirely broke the Eagles' offensive rhythm. Racking up a staggering eight total blocks in just two sets of action, he single-handedly shut down opposing attackers and engineered a towering presence that set the tone for the weekend's defensive dominance.

Player of the Week
Trevor Goodwin, IU Southeast | Sr. - First Base - Brandenburg, Kentucky
Goodwin played a major role in IU Southeast's 36-run outburst in Friday's doubleheader against Rio Grande, driving in seven runs and scoring five more. The senior belted home runs in both games of the doubleheader, and ended the week going 6-for-13 with nine runs batted in.
Pitcher of the Week
Brendan Whalen, IU Southeast | Sr. - Pitcher - Grayslake, Illinois
Whalen got the ball on Saturday against Rio Grande, and shut down the RedStorm across five innings. The righthander allowed just one hit across five shutout innings, finishing with seven strikeouts. The one hit was the lone baserunner surrendered by the Grayslake native.
Softball Players of the Week
Player of the Week
Gabby Adams, Shawnee State | Sr. - Infield - Grove City, Ohio
It was a busy week for the Bears, and Adams made the most of her opportunities. The senior went 12-for-22 across six games, accounting for ten runs scored and nine runs batted in. Adams had her best game in the opener against IU Southeast, going 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, four runs scored, and five runs batted in.
Pitcher of the Week
Abbie Deeds, Shawnee State | Fr. - Pitcher - Ironton, Ohio
Deeds got the ball three times over the past week, and was the winning pitcher in all three contests. In starts against Bryan, IU Southeast, and Brescia, the freshman struck out 18 hitters across 16 innings of work. She was especially good in the two conference games, allowing just one run over 12 innings with 17 strikeouts.

Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Diego Laguna, Brescia | Jr. - Venezuela
Laguna played a key role in Brescia's victory over Franklin on Sunday. The Venezuelan junior was part of the lone Brescia pair to win in doubles play, claiming at 6-2 win with partner Maison Ficker at the second flight. He then earned a dominant singles victory, beating his opponent at the second flight by a 6-0, 6-2 score.
Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Jada Flakes, Brescia | So. - Houston, Texas
Flakes led the way in a non-conference victory for the Bearcats, who defeated Franklin by a 6-1 score on Sunday. The sophomore teamed with her sister Layla at the top doubles spot, picking up a 6-2 victory. She also played at the top singles flight for Brescia, sweeping the top player from Franklin, 6-0, 6-0.
