MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - The Mighty Oaks of Oakland City remained the preseason favorite in women's tennis in the River States Conference, with Oakland City finishing first in the 2025 Preseason Coaches' Poll. The poll, announced Friday by the River States Conference office, saw each of the conference's seven head coaches rank the other member schools in order of predicted finish.

Oakland City earned each of the first place votes from the other member schools in the conference. The Mighty Oaks have won consecutive RSC women's tennis titles, and have advanced to the national tournament in Mobile, Alabama in both seasons. The Mighty Oaks were the top seed in the 2024 RSC Women's Tennis Tournament, and picked up victories over Indiana University Kokomo and Midway University to win the conference title.

The other first place vote on the board went to the Midway Eagles. Midway was the regular season runner-up in 2024, and picked up a semifinal win over third-seeded Indiana University East to advance to the championship round for the second year in a row.

Shawnee State was picked third in the poll, and Indiana University Kokomo was picked fourth, representing the midpoint of the league. IU East was placed fifth by the coaches, while Brescia and IU Southeast earned an identical 14 points to tie for sixth place in the preseason poll.

Conference play in tennis will continue into the month of April, with the conference championships scheduled for April 25 and 26. The championships will again be held in Evansville, Indiana, at the Wesselman Tennis Center.
